Nov 3, 2010 3:12 AM in response to dadudenessby awittemb,Looked everywhere but never see a problem with LG TV ... seems to happen with Sony and Phillips only.
I'll certainly have my apple TV this week, I'll tell u then. -
Nov 3, 2010 6:46 AM in response to Marcus Schmahlby Marcus Schmahl,I tried everything now!
(I tried the optional settings with the philipps customer support code! you can disable and enable a lot of things!)
- PC Mode On/Off
- new cables (with different specifications, cheap/expensive ones)
- different HDMI input on my TV
- with/without internet enabled on my TV
- with/without digital audio
... but nothing helped to solve the problem, and i wasted A LOT of time doing this...
isn't philipps & sony one of the top brands for lcd tvs??? so no one tested that before??
strange... -
Nov 4, 2010 12:38 AM in response to Marcus Schmahlby Marcus Schmahl,i talked to apple support yesterday evening and it's "of course" a known problem, but they say ONLY with Philips, so please Sony user call the apple support!!
they have no solution yet, but working on it (i hope!), because it's quite unusuable at the moment for me and my family.
I will post a solution, if they contact me! -
Nov 4, 2010 7:19 AM in response to Marcus Schmahlby iLove-Apple,Please keep nagging Apple Support about this. Seems like this is not the only issue with displaying video signals from the aTV2. Let's hope that with 4.2 this gets fixed!
Let's hear an acknowledgement from you Apple!
Fix it! -

Nov 4, 2010 7:33 AM in response to Robert Farthingby iLove-Apple,Oh, sorry. What I meant was that I hope once the 4.2 software update comes out, it will come out for aTV as well (not just iPhone etc.) and hopefully this (coming) update will fix this issue w/ the aTV. -
Nov 5, 2010 4:44 AM in response to Arcade99by EsmaL,I've just reported my problem - which is the exact same handshake issues/blue-green/magenta colour problems with Atv2 with the Sony Bravia KDL40s5500, and was asked "would you like our standard response?" To which I replied "Is that that it's Sony's issue?" and was told "yes."
The bloke was helpful though and said that as more and more people are reporting it is being noticed and, more helpfully, that a fix is on it's way, but he couldn't tell me when. So please keep reporting, and hopefully we'll get it working soon. -
Nov 6, 2010 3:16 PM in response to EsmaLby Sink Rate,I bought an Apple TV this evening and already the problem has started.
Philips TV, Time Capsule Router. Twice into watching my first program on ATV the screen went a blueish greeny colour, then black.
Problem solved by unplugging the ATV at the power source, but 20 mins later the problem came back.
So I googled it and thats how I found out about and here I am.
Very disappointed. Do I return the ATV for a refund or hope for some kind of fix soon? -
Nov 6, 2010 3:30 PM in response to Sink Rateby iLove-Apple,Hi,
so far, no solution or workaround has been found. I'm sure you could return it anytime, but make sure to call Apple support before you do and put some pressure on them to fix this issue!
However, I'd advise you to wait at least until 4.2 comes out for iOS devices, which will bring AirPlay, as well as iTunes Extras and iTunes LP to the aTV. Hopefully this update will include a fix for this as well!
Hope I could help -
Nov 7, 2010 3:02 AM in response to Arcade99by PetBuc,Sony KDL-40EX402: alle 30 Minuten grün. Das ist das Letzte, Apple! Ist es nicht möglich, das vorher vernünftig mit verschiedenen TV-Modellen zu testen????? -
I've got an idea, why not spread this problem around? It can only be good for us if Apple comes under a little scrutiny for selling a product like this! Keep the pressure on!
(I suggest sites like Macrumors, etc.) Hopefully they will openly acknowledge the problem then! -

Nov 7, 2010 10:10 AM in response to Arcade99by gitarzysta,Same here: Philips (again Philips ) 42pfl8404.
I'm positive this is YUV/RGB settings that cause this. I connected my Windows PC (ATI card) to the same TV and got this "blueish" screen after a while.
As soon as I changed ATI driver settings from YUV to RGB the problem went away and NEVER came back.
I heard old Apple TV had HDMI output mode configurable, as the new one doesn't allow us to configure it we end up with problems like this.
