Nov 16, 2010 10:27 AM in response to Andy T Wilsonby rsraby,AppleCare UK acknowledged the problem yesterday, but couldn't suggest a timescale for a fix, if one were to me made available. -
Nov 16, 2010 11:54 AM in response to Arcade99by terrafx,I'll add my name to the list. Bought ATV2 and had the issue. First thought it was manufacturing fauilt so returned it and got a new one a day later. When I got the issue again after I had replaced HDMI cable and different HDMI port I googled and found this post. -
Nov 16, 2010 2:36 PM in response to Arcade99by Dave Dinsmore1,Add my situation to the list, its a ViewSonic N3250 and when set to AUTO select on the HDMI menu it displays magenta. Have a BluRay and Satellite receiver connected via an HDMI switch and they are both fine. The only way to get the AppleTV to look normal is to manually change a setting on the TV's menu to force a different color mode. I've tried different cables and connected the ATV directly via HDMI to the TV an no luck. Hope Apple knows about this issue and can fix it with an update. -
Nov 16, 2010 3:42 PM in response to Dave Dinsmore1by CmdrRayGun,I just got off the phone with Apple US trying to follow up on my previous call and do some fishing...
Interestingly, don't expect a Moderator to come here and quell any fears...apparently though Apple folks may be involved in the discussion, they are not allowed to say who they are or where they work.
'Mike' also explained that though he could tell there were issues (after I pointed out the thread), the Techs have no idea what the engineers are working on with respect to any fixes.
And so it goes... -
Nov 16, 2010 5:28 PM in response to CmdrRayGunby lineout,Apple doesn't care. It's only a hobby to them and as it only affects what they percieve as a small fraction of the market they aren't going to waste their time fixing it. I hope to be proven wrong as my ATV2 is now a very expensve paper weight. -
Nov 16, 2010 7:07 PM in response to Dave Dinsmore1by Dave Dinsmore1,Just to follow up on my ViewSonic if I change the Color Format option on HDMI from Auto to AUV the Apple TV is fine but the other HDMI components, bluray and sat, are screwed up. It's a bad work around but it might help some people. -
Nov 17, 2010 5:46 AM in response to Andy T Wilsonby Ptrotsky,Ok - my issues were not related to this screen thing you guys are getting. Mine was the whole download issue. I run my TV2 through a Bose system using HDMI cables and then to then to my Olevia 37 inch or something that size. Now the downloading is working and the screen is fine. Not sure what is going on with your TVs. Downloaded 90 minute movie - had just one freeze but then home free for the rest of the movie in HD. Good luck. -

Nov 18, 2010 1:21 PM in response to Arcade99by Lennart Wendt,Same problems here with Sony Bravia KDL-40S5650 with newest firmware from Sony
This is totally unacceptable, and has to be fixed NOW. -
Nov 18, 2010 2:10 PM in response to Arcade99by FransT,Same problem here: Philips 32PFL7404 & Apple TV2. -
Nov 19, 2010 1:29 AM in response to FransTby Sjefkoning,I have exactly the same problem with a Philips 42PFL8654 LCD tv. After some time screen turns greenish/pinkish then reverts back to normal again. Keeps repeating this patern every 20 minutes or so. I have tried multiple HDMI cables and HDMI ports on my TV, but keep getting this problem. Only after some searching around THE web, I found this topic.
What I find incredible reading this topic, is that Apple still has not provided a solution to this problem. Surely they must be aware of this issue and a large number of Apple tv users must be impacted.
I hope they come with a fix soon. -
Nov 19, 2010 4:02 AM in response to Arcade99by Audiotic,Same here, bought my AppleTV2 in USA as it isn't available here yet. My Philips 9604 Works perfectly with all HDMI sources, but with the AppleTV is has this issue. So, it's an Apple problem. I have not found a solution... -
