Nov 29, 2010 2:01 PM in response to Arcade99by Louiecypher,I really had hopes that the update would fix this (4.2.1). It didn't. I'm really close to throwing the Apple TV out the window.
I mean, 26(and counting) pages and not one post from an Apple tech or engineer. Pathetic.
Man up, Apple, admit there's a problem and get it fixed. -
Nov 29, 2010 3:14 PM in response to Arcade99by javier1968,Such a shame, I will need to send it back tomorrow, it just does not work with my Sony Bravia and not is not the TV fault, I had the ATV1 connected for a couple of years and never had a problem, is this how early adopters get rewarded? bye bye ATV2 it has been like hanging out with the wrong crowd, welcome back ATV1 my good old friend. -

Nov 30, 2010 6:54 AM in response to Arcade99by Marcus Schmahl,Apple support in Germany gave me a direct email address of a person, who is involved into this case, and i received a case number, if i have questions, or problems again...
BUT now they doesn't answer my emails... hmmm... strange!
i think the problem is very difficult to solve, or even they can't solve it, but doesn't want to tell it!
i really like the concept and i really want to have a machine like atv2 on my tv (my home is fully equipped with apple hardware, so i don't want to have different components, or PLEASE GIVE ME A BETTER SOLUTION! ).
it's a strange situation, because this thread is sooooo huge!!!!
i've never seen such a response on an error like this AND no answer of an engineer.
I think i will send it back and wait for a solution. -
Nov 30, 2010 7:06 AM in response to Arcade99by Antonio Palluan,Hello! Just spoke with Italian customer care... They are "aware" of the issue and It's "under investigation", they asked me to provide the TV model and the brand of the HDMI cable... So, they admit the problem...let's hope It'll be fixable via software....but I doubt... Let's see... -
Nov 30, 2010 1:37 PM in response to dwagner1270by RR,I gave Apple support a call today, was having many of the problems people here reported and not getting anywhere. The person I spoke today, Josh, in the US Apple care area, was fantastic. Basically everyones problem is different and you need to find out what that is. In my case was interference with another device, but the best part was that he took a rational approach to solving this issue. I admit I was lucky but this now works for me. -
Nov 30, 2010 1:44 PM in response to RRby xbbdc,RR,
can you please explain what your exact issue was and what was done? maybe it can help everyone else... -

Nov 30, 2010 11:10 PM in response to RRby dadudeness,Almost definitely I can exclude it's something like an interference in my case but I disconnected everything but the antenna and the ATV2 to be sure. It turned green again right after fireing it up.
Actually, the ATV2 is the only device connected to my TV set via HDMI. -
Dec 1, 2010 5:28 AM in response to dadudenessby Ptrotsky,Green? Yours turns green. Mine has never turned green and it works just fine. Time for a recall for you guys! -
Dec 1, 2010 8:49 AM in response to Ptrotskyby Mats Liljedal,Dear Ptrotsky,
I still love to hear that your ATV2 just works fine but please take notice of that hundreds (or more likely even thousands) of ATV2 customers using Philips, Sonys and a few other TV brands are having massive problems with the ATV2 and the HDMI connection. That is what this thread is about and I'm afraid there is nothing you can do about it. Or do you have an idea? -
Dec 1, 2010 9:06 AM in response to Arcade99by ancrix,Today i received my 2nd ATV, and same problem. -
Dec 1, 2010 10:41 AM in response to Arcade99by Millriver,Dear Apple,
you have a problem with ATV2 connecting via HDMI see thread on your wed site: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2600405&start=0&tstart=15
Please arrange for my ATV2-SN DCYDPN2XDDR5 that was connected to a Philips 42PFL8694H/12 (That can be added to the list below) to be collected and refunded or fix the problem.
Regards
Milriver
