Oct 5, 2010 1:20 PM in response to Globe&Trotterby dwagner1270,Anybody else been contacted by Apple regarding this issue?
I received a mail today asking me for further details about my setup.
Looks like this thread has come to Apple's attention. Good news! -
Oct 5, 2010 1:29 PM in response to dwagner1270by rainy82,Received (and answered) an e-mail from Apple, too. Let's see what they can do about it. -
Oct 5, 2010 1:58 PM in response to dwagner1270by Arcade99,They contacted me too. Fast reaction of Apple. -
Oct 5, 2010 1:51 PM in response to Arcade99by wouter88,I'm having the same problem. Received my Apple TV today and tried on serval different SONY tv's (1 LED and 2 LCD tv's), different HDMI cables, different power suplies.. But always the same problem. Screen becomes pink or other weird blue color or screen goes black (losing hdmi connection) for some minutes. This is very frustrating for the first time use. I hope you, Apple, wil fix this soon with an update..

Oct 6, 2010 12:29 AM in response to Arcade99by TKanne,I contacted the support as well, forwarded the thread at fscklog.com and got the answer that they'll contact me if they get news.
By the way, a suggestion of the Apple Support was to reset the box. I did and yesterday I didn't have this problem for approx. 20 min. No chance to test longer, but perhaps this could be an option for all of us. -
Oct 6, 2010 1:12 AM in response to TKanneby Arcade99,I guess a reset is the standard recommendation of every support of any company and almost every issue
In this case it didn't help because I tried that too. -
Oct 6, 2010 1:31 AM in response to Arcade99by nomawie23,You can stop to search for a solution / workaround by playing with settings on AppleTV. We have to wait for a Firmware update. Maybe you will have luck by changing the setup e.g. using HDMI Splitter, loop He signal through a Receiver etc. Something that has influence on the HDMI signal -
Oct 6, 2010 1:35 AM in response to Arcade99by rainy82,That's what they told me to do as well (on Saturday). Actually, they didn't just want me to reset the ATV but also to restore it. Did so. The only thing restoring the device (means the ATV loading the firmware from the web and then installing it) lead to was that the "TV shows" column was/is gone. I know it doesn't work yet here in Germany, but that does not mean that I don't want that feature to be shown. So, my ATV since then just says Movies - Internet - Computer - Settings. And, of course, that did not fix the issue with the cyan/pink screen. So: Big hooray to the support! :-/ -
Oct 6, 2010 1:49 AM in response to rainy82by nomawie23,It Sems like the Apple engineers contacted everyone in this thread who is affected by this Problem. So Why should the Apple Support have a solution if Even the engineers don't have One??? (I hatte Auto correction on my iPhone) -
Oct 6, 2010 1:50 AM in response to Arcade99by apfel_baum,I'm having the same problem exactly as described with a Philips 42PFL7404H and the ATV2. Screen turns green, then I get an inverted picture. Happens every 20-30 minutes...
I never had a problem like that with any other device that I connected w/ HDMI to my TV set.
I suppose Apple needs to come out with a firmware update very quickly. -
Oct 6, 2010 2:23 AM in response to Arcade99by Merged Content 1,Hi everybody! I also have this problem with ATV2 and a Sony Bravia KDL37S5500. Tried multiple HDMI cables, different ports on the TV, switching off auto standby, changing the start time (or disabling) the screen saver. Nothing seems to help. When it does happen, the picture returns to normal if I change to a different input on the TV and back again. Not an ideal solution! -
Oct 6, 2010 3:40 AM in response to Arcade99by Vespisti99,Hi,
same ATV2 Problem here. Germany, Philips 37PFL5604H.
[UPDATE]
Some more information...
The Apple TV is connected to power and via HDMI to the TV. No audio connection. Internet via WIFI.
Unplug an plug the HDMI cable solves the Problem for another 30 minutes.
Greetings from Cologne!

Oct 6, 2010 5:21 AM in response to Arcade99by blade_runner_5,I have Philips 32PFL3514D here in the US and am waiting on my new AppleTV to arrive. I have had the original AppleTV connected to this unit via HDMI with no HDMI problems.
I have however had the magenta screen problem with a DirecTV HR22 model connected to this LCD via HDMI. It wouldn't happen every 20-30 minutes but it would happen a few times per month - I could never get Philips or DirecTV to resolve this issue and my only choice was to use component cables.
I am hoping I don't run in the magenta screen problem with the new AppleTV and I will let the readers of this thread know either way what happens once my new AppleTV arrives. -
Oct 6, 2010 9:14 AM in response to Arcade99by Apfelbomm,Hello there,
I have the same problem with ATV2 and Philps 42PFL9664H. instead of unplugging the cable for me it is possible to switch to anther HDMI-input and then back again. No solution, but a bit more comfortable.
I talked to Philips-support and they where quite interested into all information about this. If they do what they said, they are reading this discussion now. -
Oct 6, 2010 10:21 AM in response to dwagner1270by Chris_70567,Same problem here.
Philips 40PFL7664, no optical cable connected.
