Mar 2, 2011 2:01 PM in response to Arcade99by Louiecypher,Well 4.3 is to be released on the eleventh of March.
It solves the colour problem, but I'm still getting the momentary blackouts which I'm assuming are indicating some kind of handshake problem still exists.
A lot less annoying than the colour change, though. For now. -
Mar 2, 2011 2:04 PM in response to Louiecypherby Coldfire,Solves the colour problem but the "glitching" is still there? Are you using the 4.3 beta firmware? -
Mar 2, 2011 4:25 PM in response to FlyingAngel007by KeithJenner,There will be a 4.3 update for Apple TV and, based on previous experience it will be released on the 11th, along with the others.
It will be needed for Airplay from Apps etc, so we can be pretty sure it will happen by then. Given this issue, it would be good if they released the Apple TV update early, but doubt it. -
Mar 3, 2011 1:52 AM in response to Arcade99by decsramble,Having gotten my hopes up for a 4.3 release yesterday and finally after months of waiting for a usable Apple TV I was a bit disappointed to hear that it wont be released until March 11th. It's also a little concerning that there was no mention of the Apple TV. I hope it's not back to hobby status and the forgotten child of the Apple product line.
Still with more thought on the matter, fingers crossed the wait will give them more time to properly test the update. Apple had dropped the ball on a couple of simple features in the last few iOS updates (alarms, hdmi) so they need to get this one right. -
Mar 3, 2011 12:57 PM in response to decsrambleby ILiOS324,Bad news, we may wait even longer than March 11th. The GM build for 4.3 was released today, but there is no GM build for Apple TV... So we will probably have to wait even longer.

Mar 3, 2011 4:09 PM in response to emulatormanby CmdrRayGun,Instead of a knee jerk reaction on the order of something like, "There's 56 pages of info, comments, and commiseration regarding same, maybe you want to read some of it..."
The short answer for a Philips TV inversion problem, the fix is eagerly awaited in a frimware distribution. -

Mar 3, 2011 6:27 PM in response to Arcade99by Aric Friesen,Ok so people are talking about beta OS for Apple TV 2 as solving these issues. I'm a registered/paid developer. Where do I get this beta? -
Mar 3, 2011 8:27 PM in response to BadMelonFarmerby ILiOS324,BadMelonFarmer, read my post above. No iOS 4.3 GM build for Apple TV. Don't think we will be getting it on the 11th...

You say you are a registered/paid developer and you ask where to get the beta version! what are they paying you for?! You should know how to get it! Oh and when you have it please send me a copy!........I just sometimes wonder about some of the comments on this thread, do people even read them before they make one?

Mar 4, 2011 1:46 AM in response to ILiOS324by BadMelonFarmer,@ILiOS324 --- I would not read too much into that. they have not released betas of ATV2 before and the only reason they did this time was to do with the interaction with the other IOS devices.
I do not know for sure, but....
ATV2 NEEDS the update to allow the functionality they are talking about in iPhone and iPad 4.3 ...so....... you would assume that they will release it around the same time. -
Mar 4, 2011 7:59 AM in response to BadMelonFarmerby tgibbs,The main reason to get the iOS release candidate for iPhone and iPad release candidate out in advance of the official release is to give 3rd party app developers some lead time to make sure that their apps are compatible with the new operating systems. Apple has not (yet?) allowed 3rd party apps on appleTV, so there is less incentive to get out a release candidate early. -
Mar 9, 2011 1:34 AM in response to Arcade99by Ryan.Hayes,I have a Sony KDL-37EX401 which worked no problem with the previous generation Apple TV. I recently purchased the new Apple TV and have the colour inversion problem detailed in many online threads. Having just spent 26 minutes on the phone to Apple Support they have basically said it must be the TV although they did offer to sell me an Apple branded HDMI cable and replace the unit. As I have another "new" Apple TV on a far cheaper set in the bedroom with no issues have previously swopped the unit. I find this really frustrating and annoying and the advisor didn't seem hopeful that a fix was on it's way. -
Mar 9, 2011 3:24 AM in response to Millriverby Caveat Gez,Hi Guys
I've been following this thread for a long time having posted somewhere near the top of the thread. Like you I want this update to be released to solve the problem.
Seeing as the iPhone and iPad versions have gone Gold Master and the ATV hasn't, I'm going to resort to a developer release to fix it for now.
I am not on the developer program. Does anyone know where I can get a copy of 4.3?
Thanks
