Help! Anyone with a Samsung SCX-4600 ? Mine won't scan beyond 600dpi

I bought a Samsung SCX-4600 printer/scanner and all seemed fine until I started to check it out in more detail. It turns out that I can't scan at any higher resolution than 600dpi. The SCX-4600 is capable of 1200x1200 (optical) scanning.

I was able to try it on a friends laptop and the windows "driver" does allow 1200 scanning.

Does anyone have an SCX-4600? Could you confirm if you can or can't scan any higher than 600dpi.
