Firewire 800 to 400 Adapter or Cable.. Tranfer Power to Device??

I apologize if this is posted somewhere, but I have audio interfaces and Hard drives that have Firewire 400 ports that require power from the computer.

My new imac only has firewire 800. Does a firewire 800 to 400 cable or adapter transfer power from the computer to power a device?? I can't find and answer anywhere, and my buddy just bought a mac mini and it does not..

This would be VERY UPSETTING if it didn't...Please help/.

Your welcome.

Your buddy also may have tripper the port overload protection by hot plugging a bad cable, adapter or device into the port.

Have him reset the SMC as per: > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964

+1. Shut down the computer.+
+2. Unplug the computer's power cord.+
+3. Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.+
+4. Release the power button.+
+5. Attach the computers power cable.+
+6. Press the power button to turn on the computer.+

And then try a device and cable that is tested and know to be good....
