Apple TV not playing Netflix TV Shows

Just hooked up my Apple TV 2Gen. Signal strength is great, speed at about 1.2 Mbps. I can access my Netflix account no problem and play a movie without an issue or shudder. But when I try to watch my TV Shows on Netflix, it takes up to a minute with the spinning wheel, plays for 2 seconds then goes back to the selection screen.

How can I play Netflix movies but not TV Shows? I set my DNS to 8.8.8.8 and no change.

Another interesting thing is it is isolated to the new AppleTV because I can play TV Shows on my Macbook Pro with zero delays.

Yep. Same here. It appears to happen when it hits the end of the buffer. When playing a movie, it seems to pause (for me about 10 seconds in) at the same point, but then skips ahead a few moments. A tv show hits the pause and ecits to the menu.

For the tv show, if I go back in and try to play it again, I see the spinning wheel for about a minute or two, then it asks if I want to resume. If I resume, it starts back up at the very end of the show and is unable to play more than
A few seconds of it.

AppleTV has streamed Netflix for about a week with no hassle for me. It stopped working tonight. The error message given is not identified on the Netflix support site. I decided to try watching from my MacBook Pro. It failed -- but I was prompted to update MS SilverLight. I did. I can now stream to my MacBook Pro again. My guess is Apple will have to update AppleTV to resolve whatever has changed with SilverLight and Netflix.

I finally fixed the problem after 2 days of no Netflix service. I logged into the Netflix website and de-authorized my AppleTV. My plan was to "start fresh" and add my AppleTV to Netflix again. However, after de-authorizing, the AppleTV worked again. The surprising thing is that it did not ask me to re-sign in to Netflix. It just worked.

I was experiencing the same thing and found that the issue seem to be episodic. For example, I have Heroes Season 1 in my Instant Queue. For the past 2 days, we've watched episodes 1-9 in what appears to be flawless HD. Once we hit Episode 10, it stopped, stuttered and even pushed me back to the Netflix application 2-3x. Once we bullied our way through the episode, 11-14 played flawlessly. I made no changes to my network or ATV2 appliance whatsoever. I'll run through the logs of my AEBS to look for any issues, but while the stutters were taking place, we were on the internet connected to correct VPN's working (executing sql queries etc), with not as much as a hiccup.

I have the same problem!
Shows start but don't make it past 10 seconds.
Did you ever get this fixed?

Apple... que pasa?!?!

(I have an idea though. I think what is happening is that apple has not yet created the ability to buffer the videos from netflix on the apple tv, so they can catch up to slower internet speeds. If they just create an update that fixes that problem, I think it should solve it.) (Apple, you can pay me after you fix it. 😉 But hopefully it's soon otherwise Im returning mine.

Some success!
I spend about 90 minutes on the phone with a tech. For my situation, we found some more info. The TV episode problem only happened with HD episodes. Neither of us know why, but that was the only place we could get it to happen. I could watch HD movies, just not TV? We did a lot of testing and monitoring of my connection and both speculated that my router (which was old and the unable to load the firmware update) was suspect. So I replaced the router. That actually sort of helped. What happened next was my cable modem came to the surface as the other problem. I went to Comcast, got a new modem and things are GREAT. I know my situation is likely not the same as others having this problem. I wanted to share my results in case it helps someone else.

Spoke with Apple support-- no help-- said it was Netflix issue and to call them. While I understand-- that is the first time after 12 years of calling Apple on something to have them make me call someone else. I've never had "not us, not our problem" before.

Netflix support identified the issue: the stream for Apple TV is actually different than to regular Internet connections. Two different sources for the content. Some episodes are just bad. Their test episode for Apple TV is Hero's season one- episode one.
They said if that works then the Apple TV and connection are fine.
We have found 1/2 of the Bones season 2 episodes to fail.
