BNE ipod Level 1 Level 1 (0 points)
My ipodtouch 3G was replaced under warranty. When I sync the replacement with itunes I assume it will detect that this is a different ipod. Will I need to use up one of my 5 allowed ipods to connect and sync?

ipod touch 3G 32 GB, iOS 4

you will need to set it up from the backup of your previous one. And I have never heard of being limited on the amount of iPods you can sync. But there is a limit on the number of computers you can authorize for your iTunes account, which is 5

Somewhere in Apple's document they say you can only use one purchase on nor more than five devices. However, that does not seem to be enforced via iTunes. A poster in the iPad forum provided the Apple page but I do not remember it.

I don't know about other purchases, but [From FAQ for movies|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1906] it says

What are the usage rights with movies?

You can transfer to five computers, sync with all the iPods you own, and burn to DVD for data archiving purposes only (not for DVD playback). You can also sync to up to five Apple TVs which don't count as one of your five computers.

So that's just what I said. You can put your iTunes on up to 5 computers, not devices. I'm pretty sure you can own as many iPods as your heart desires.

The Terms and Conditions of the Apps Store says:

    USAGE RULES

You shall be authorized to use Products only for personal, noncommercial use.

(ii) You shall be authorized to use Products on five Apple-authorized devices at any time, except for Movie Rentals (see below).
