I haven't had any issues with my iMac until today, when it started freezing. I restarted it and it started freezing again right away. I tried restarting it a second time, and now it won't load the OS.

The computer itself turns on, but it is stuck at the apple OS loading page.

I can't seem to find any posts on this particular problem, so any help would be great.

iMac, Mac OS X (10.6)

I'm having the same issue. Trying the reboot + Shift now..
It re-loads the OS or whatever, and then just returns to the spinning wheel.
    Any thoughts?

Your internal HD may have failed or is in the process of doing so. Insert the original Install Disc that came with the computer and restart holding down the Option key. It should give you a choice of start up volumes, choose the Install Disc. Let it boot and it should attempt to install, once you have chosen the language then click the Utilities menu, choose Disk Utility, click your internal HD, then click the First Aid tab and check the S.M.A.R.T. status of your internal HD. It should say Verified, if it says anything else it has failed or is getting ready to. If it says Verified then run Repair Disk Permissions and then run Repair Disk.

I got it back up and running. Thanks for the tip. I ended up re-installing the OS. Didn't lose anything (thank goodness). The Repair disk went through fine, no issues, as did the repair disk permissions, but that didn't really help me at all.
Once I ran through the install of the OS I was back to normal.
    Thanks again!
