No full screen

Is there no way to watch movies/netflix/videos in full screen mode? As in fill the screen? I have a plasma and watching long bouts of shows with black bars is murder on my tv. But I can't seem to find any full screen mode setting?
I'm either very silly and can't find this setting (very possible) , or I am very disappointed.

i was disappointed to discover as well, i loved my Apple TV until i discovered that some movies dont display in full screen. I was going to stop using my XBox 360 for Netflix and start using the Apple TV; since this discovery i am returning it and will just continue to use my XBox 360.

Of all settings and options, why not just have an option, when movies are in standard definition to show it in full screen. Apple for once dropped the ball.

a)Correct. I can change the aspect on the tv, but then need to readjust the aspect after each video in order to properly see the Apple tv dash.

b)Typically only when watching tv shows off of netflix do I want to adjust my aspect ratio. I can handle letterbox when viewing movies but a 4:3 ratio when watching television shows for extended periods of time is not great for burn-in on my plasma. I'd be willing to take slightly less image quality over burn in.
