Sustaining the Piano Instrument without a pedal

hey guys, I know this may be a newbie question
but is there a way to set up a sustain pedal sound with the logic piano without inputing an external sustain pedal?
(I've tried making all the notes really long but for some reason logic won't hold them down when I do that)

It is strange question... If you can play one hand piano I can make some very low key for example to behave as sustain pedal so you can switch it on/off but I do not believe it is that what you want ?

Can you explain how you make the notes long - in piano roll etc, just provide more info about.
Thanks

I am probably not qualified to answer since I am a complete newb to Logic and having multiple problems myself but I did solve this in GarageBand and I am sure Logic has the same ability.

You can use automation to put sustain on your midi notes. In Gb on the piano roll window there is view: modulation, expression, sustain, etc. I would click sustain and then draw points where I wanted the sustain to be, worked great.

I haven't found that part of logic yet, now I have a sustain pedal, but I am sure it is there.

Just put a MIDI Control Change #64 = 127 (Sustain Pedal) into the MIDI event list where you want the pedal to be "on" and then MIDI Control Change #64 = 0 into the MIDI event list where you want the pedal to be "off" again. You can do this as many times as you like. The program can't tell the difference between a "real" sustain and simply injecting the "fake sustain" into you performance.

See Logic User Manual Chapters 22-24 and search for text "Sustain Pedal" to get you into the ballpark. It is all there if you take the time to dig into it.
