iPod Touch 4G & iTunes 9

Hi,

I am planning on buying a Touch 4G as soon as it is released in my country. From what I have read in these Discussions there seems to be some issues with iTunes 10.

I have NO interest in Ping whatsoever and definately don't want it EVERYWHERE in iTunes. My Apple remote, downloaded last week, is working perfectly with my 3G Touch and iTunes "9.something";.

My question is: Will the Touch 4G work with iTunes 9 or will I be forced to download iTunes 10?

Thanks for your help

iPod Touch 4G requires:
OSX 10.5.8 on a mac
Win XP SP3 or greater on PC
iTunes 10 (both Mac/PC). It will NOT work with iTunes 9.

Apple Remote App 2.0 does work with iPod Touch 4G on iTunes 10 (but you may need to modify/disable your firewall and/or connect your computer to the router via Ethernet cable to help iTunes 10 detect you iPod Touch/Remote App for the first time. Once you complete the first remote connection to iTunes, you should be able to disconnect your Ethernet cable and turn your firewall back on. )

I have noticed some new problems with iTunes/remote detecting your wireless speakers (such as an airport express to your home stereo when the firewall is enabled. The problem disappears when the firewall is disabled. I believe that the new version of iTunes may have modified some of the ports required to maintain connectivity with these devices. I, personally, still need to find out which ports I need to modify in my firewall to fix this. Otherwise, they all seem to work great for me.

At the moment you aren't forced to use ping, but there is no option available to disable/hide it from the interface. If you dont want to use it, you will just have to ignore it and make sure not to click on any of the buttons by accident.

I hope this helps.
Good Luck.

In the right hand corner you'll find a little button next to the Genius icon. Clicking on it will show or hide the Ping interface.
