Alarm Clock Functionality

Considering getting a 6G iPod Nano but I'm wondering how the alarm clock works?

Is it similar to the older iPods and a playlist can be selected to play through connected speakers when a certain time arrives or does it work like the iPhone where only a specific designated track can be cast as an alarm?

Macbook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.4)

I don't think the ipod nano 6G has an alarm clock. It has a timer, stopwatch and a clock, but no alarm. Sorry.

No, wait sorry. You can use the timer as an alarm and you choose the alarm but you can't choose a song. There are some sound effects you can choose from. Hope this helps.

What do you mean? The sound comes out through headphones or if you have an ipod stereo it should come out from there.

HEY APPLE: Most people will have their ipod in some sort of speaker dock when they're using their alarm. Now all speaker docks without built in alarms WON'T have an alarm at all. Good job. jobs.

Get an alarm clock with an ipod dock, they will play music from your ipod too. Its the only way though...

Which iPod docking station with alarm clock function works well with the iPod Nano 6th Generation? Even the apple hotline helper was stumped today on the phone with me. Anyone have a product to recommend?

You're right. You can use the timer as an alarm clock, but you can also change the sound you want by pushing the " i " in the bottom right corner when you have the timer on the screen. The problem is the timer alarm only goes off once, then it's finished.

Just received this 6G nano as a replacement for my 1G nano from the battery recall program. It's quite nice but saddly they have omitted some features. There is no alarm clock! It would have been trivial to implement. At least there should be an option to set a playlist as the timer alarm. No notes reader. Also there are no games whatsoever. I also miss the ability to initiate shuffle play straight from home screen. FM radio is a nice addition, but Mickey Mouse clock faces? Give me a greak...

I used to use the notes feature of my Classic, but on my Nano, I use a workaround. Type or paste your notes to an audio track as lyrics.
