HP Photosmart C4680-Snow Leopard can't even see the printer!!

Hi Guys,
I bought a brand new C4680 a week ago and it's the first printer I have installed on my mac since buying it... I heard that snow leopard has the drivers for this printer included in snow leopard. So i thought it would be plug and play... I have installed the printer drivers from the optional installs on the disk and the printer just will not be found by my system. even when i used the HP install/setup software it couldn't find my printer... I have looked at many different forums explaining what to do with other issues people are having with the same printer... but none of the cases are that they can't see the printer at all! But i find it hard to believe i am the first person who has had this problem...

Thanks in advance

Welcome to Apple Communities.

Have you tried downloading the latest HP drivers from Apple?

If that doesn't work, try the latest from the HP site.

Good Luck.

Works here. First, since you've installed HP's software from its disc, you need to ensure that you have the latest stuff. MacNoob0909 pointed out the general link, but here's the one for the C4680: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/product?product=3739150&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&la ng=en&tmptrack_link=ot_we/prodlink/enus/3739150/loc:0&cc=us Once that's installed, pop in the install disc that came with your machine, double-click on the Optional Installs.mkpg app in Optional Installs, follow the steps until you get to the page that shows Custom Install, select Printers Use by this Mac (ensuring that the C4680 is connected), and continue. After installing that stuff, launch Software Update, check for updates, and install HP Driver update 2.4.1. Now, the printer should show up in the Print & Fax prefPane.

Hey
Thanks for the advice guys... But i followed both instructions. However when i tried to install the optional installs for printers used by this computer it said zero kb and wouldn't let me continue. So i clicked all printer drivers and this let me continue... Then i updated and installed the new HP drivers, but i still can not see my printer...
