Square Bullet Point mayhem?

OK, maybe not mayhem, but definitely shenanigans. When I import a Pages document from my mac that uses square bullet points (pretty much my entire work product going back a number of years), the iPod version of Pages converts all the solid square bullet points into some weird square with an X in the middle.

On Mac Pages, these bullet points are found in the inspector under list--bullets and numbering--text bullets.

My guess is that it uses some font (probably Wingding-regular which is one of the fonts in the Document Import Warning listed as not being supported by Pages) that Pages on the iPad doesn't have.

Has anyone figured out this problem? Any way to switch the font of the bullet point on Mac Pages? If I do switch the font, which font would I use to obtain my solid square.

It pretty much is the only thing that keeps me from working on, editing and revising documents on the iPad. It forces me to use open the Macbook Pro just to make a simple edit.

Thanks and millions of kudo points to whomever helps me on this.

A Pages'09 word processing doc with various bullet points incl most of the text bullets was imported through iTunes to my iPad and arrived unchanged. Note: I couldn't find a solid square bullet point in Pages'09 on my Mac..

The only bullet point available on the iPad is accessed via the .?123 keyboard by holding down the dash / minus key below and between 1 & 2. The same one is used by iPad's Pages app.
Changing the font through the default installed list only changes the size of the bullet point except for Chalkduster which changes it to a circular scribble.
Best.
