MTU Issues

Hi,
I just got my new iPod touch 4G. I was frustrated with App Store and Facetime timing out on my wi-fi network (both home & office). I saw that apple.com won't open in safari(whereas other sites could). I now know that it is due MTU settings. I cannot find an option to change that in the iPod, b'cause without that I cannot activate Facetime nor download apps directly in my ipod.

Help!

I can connect to FB and other sites properly on my Home & Office Wi-fi. Some sites like apple, techcrunch etc.. don't open. I assume that Facetime and app store connect to an apple web address, hence the relation. I had this problem on my laptop and after changing the MTU to 1430, everything worked fine.

Btw, I forgot to add that I already tried Google DNS and OpenDNS.

Geneally, at least here in the US, the MTU setting for a cable broadband system is 1500 and for a DSL broadband system 1492. I would try manually setting the MTU on your home router to match what your broadband ISP specifies to see if that fixes your issues. Reboot the router after making the change.Contact them for further help...

You should also set the MTU on any of your laptop/desktop clients back to their defaults after doing this. Reboot each after making any changes.
