Can't play burned CD's
I have two CD players, a new one which is broken and can't play CD's at all, and a (16 year) older yet much more reliable player; a Yamaha YST-C11 if that matters. I didn't bother with that new one, but I've used three CD's so far and all of them were burned in iTunes. Here's what happened:
1. I made a CD with .mp3 tracks. It didn't work, saying NO CD, although it was probably due to the data type.
2. I made a CD in 'audio' mode on the maximum possible burn speed. I checked to see if it worked, and presumably it did, as it was a .cda format. It also didn't work, saying there was an error.
3. I made a CD in 'audio' mode but this time I lowered the burn speed to 1x after reading that it may cause errors. Again, it didn't work, now saying NO CD.
These were all the same CD's: Verbatim, 52x compatible, CD-R and I'm sure the tracks fitted under the 700MB and 80 minute limits. The CD player can play 'actual' disks; ones that are bought from stores and come with a fancy cover and artsy book and all that. Never have I seen it successfully play these problem ones. It can't even read how many tracks there are on these CD's.
Am I burning it wrong, are the CD's wrong, or perhaps is the CD player too old to support these disks?
