Can't play burned CD's

Yes, it's simple really, I can't play any CD's I've burned in iTunes on any of the players at home.

I have two CD players, a new one which is broken and can't play CD's at all, and a (16 year) older yet much more reliable player; a Yamaha YST-C11 if that matters. I didn't bother with that new one, but I've used three CD's so far and all of them were burned in iTunes. Here's what happened:
1. I made a CD with .mp3 tracks. It didn't work, saying NO CD, although it was probably due to the data type.
2. I made a CD in 'audio' mode on the maximum possible burn speed. I checked to see if it worked, and presumably it did, as it was a .cda format. It also didn't work, saying there was an error.
3. I made a CD in 'audio' mode but this time I lowered the burn speed to 1x after reading that it may cause errors. Again, it didn't work, now saying NO CD.

These were all the same CD's: Verbatim, 52x compatible, CD-R and I'm sure the tracks fitted under the 700MB and 80 minute limits. The CD player can play 'actual' disks; ones that are bought from stores and come with a fancy cover and artsy book and all that. Never have I seen it successfully play these problem ones. It can't even read how many tracks there are on these CD's.

Am I burning it wrong, are the CD's wrong, or perhaps is the CD player too old to support these disks?

Ok...I struggled to get answers for this problem...and guess what...*Got the solution...Eureka*

When you press BURN Tab...you get a POP up with the following, the reason why the Cds do not burn is due to the speed...select the right speed and they will burn ( in my case it was 2x for SONY CD-R 700MB)

1. CD Burner : Matshita DVD-R UJ-846

2. *Preferred Speed* : *Select 2x - This is the reason why the CDs are thrown out as incomplete burn outs...my Layman answer is that all these CDs have different speeds and the average speeds are between 1-4, I selected speed 2x....and wow...it worked, no problems whatsoever.**

3. Disc Format : Select Audio CD
Gap Between Songs - I choose None...you can try different timings
Include CD Text - Ticked

Click the Burn Tab

Good Luck and hopefully it works

I'm having the same problem. I've burned tons of cd's from music I've imported into iTunes and have been able to play them on any number of cd players. I'm now trying to play a cd of music I purchased from iTunes and having no luck. I burned the cd-r (four tries now) using iTunes instructions to the "t" and it won't play on any cd player, new or old, other than the cd player in my computer using iTunes. I also tried burning at a lower speed as suggested in this string. Unless I can get this resolved I definitely won't be purchasing any more music from iTunes.
