Apr 2, 2012 6:04 PM in response to anneravenby Livin Easy,Just adding my thaniks to the insightful few describing the Trim, Label, Sync, disconnect iPhone and Quit iTunes, Reconnect iPhone and re-launch iTunes Windoze-style work around.
Shame on Apple Corp. for letting this oft-encountered, always annoying klutzy voice recorder bug persist for so many months.

Apr 22, 2012 8:36 PM in response to FretBuzzinby Phobetor,FretBuzzin, this worked almost perfectly. As goo97 said, I had to disconnect and reconnect the phone and then everything sync'd just fine.

May 1, 2012 2:12 PM in response to anneravenby NP1389,SIMPLE SOLUTION FOR ALL:
Hey guys,
I think the following method is universal and will solve anyone's issue no matter what size Voice memo you want to move or what specific hardware, firmware, platform etc you have:
I assume the issue you want to solve is: being able to play Voice Memo app Recordings on the Music app on your iOS device via syncing through iTunes on a PC or Mac:
with that assumption, follow the simple steps below and it should work for anyone:
- Cable-sync your iOS device to your iTunes (PC or Mac)
- Your recording/s will be under Voice Memos (playlist)
- Right Click (PC) or Two-Finger Tap (Mac) on the individual recording you want to sync
- Click on "Get Info"
- Just Notice on "Summary" tab, I assume the file is an AAC, at least 64kbps, Profile is Low Complexity and in Mono channel
- Click on the "Options" tab (5th Tab along)
- On the drop-down menu: "Media Kind" (by default it should say "Voice Memo") CHANGE IT TO: "Music"
- Click "OK"
- Create a NEW PLAYLIST FOLDER and name it whatever you want
- Drag that Voice Memo track you just changed into that NEW PLAYLIST FOLDER you just made,
- NOW SIMPLY SYNC:
- Under DEVICES: Click on your iOS device and under the "Music" tab, check "Sync Music", "Selected playlists..." & under Playlists box, check that NEW PLAYLIST FOLDER you just made that has your changed Voice Memo and that's all
- Click Apply and Sync your iOS device
- under Music on your device your memo should come up
Only annoying thing about this solution is that you have to go into each memo and change that Media Kind to Music. Small price to pay to access it in the Music app i suppose
Hope it works for you...
post back if it works, to help others solve this uneccessary issue, Apple should have tweaked!
Happy recordings!

May 1, 2012 2:36 PM in response to NP1389by JamesBlond,@NP -- this is not the issue that this thread is about whatsoever. One person was having this specific minor issue, and figured out a much easier way to deal with it by converting each file to an mp3 file after getting it into itunes.
The greater issue in this thread is about voice memos not syncing to Itunes *at all* -- your "step 2" -- and various workarounds to get voice memos off the phone and into Itunes.
You might want to review the thread a bit.

May 1, 2012 2:44 PM in response to JamesBlondby NP1389,Ah, yes, apologies for the post in the wrong thread, I just searched the web for a solution for my issue and the search engine directed me to this thread where as you said i must have read that person who had the same issue as mine. Although, I think converting each file to mp3, is a bit more tedious or more time consuming than just switching the Media Kind? so I hope it saves him some time for future recordings...
thanks for notifying me James Blonde

Converting to MP3 couldn't be easier. Just highlight the file in itunes, go to the Advanced menu and choose "create MP3 version." That's all. I do it all the time with recordings, very useful feature (to get a smaller file that can be more easily uploaded) and very easy. Changing it to a different media format doesn't sound like a huge amount of work, true, but the MP3 conversion is probably a teeny bit easier, and the file takes up a lot less
space on your iphone or whatever.
But obviously, either will work fine.

May 1, 2012 3:00 PM in response to anneravenby mtnmedic,I'm still using iExplorer. A free utility. It's a simple drag-and-drop (even multiple files at a time) from the iExplorer window to wherever you want to copy the voice memo file to. Haven't had a problem since I started using it. Great workaround and it couldn't be simpler. It may not be for everyone but it sure has stopped me from pulling my hair out over this issue.

May 12, 2012 2:10 AM in response to bjprcby Senor Velasco,I found another 'voodoo' fix on another blog site whereby you simply trim your old voice memos that haven't synced by 1 second. Tried it - worked. The re-name thing worked on some.
An even better solution - download 'isaidwhat'. Manual download via apps.

May 15, 2012 11:04 PM in response to anneravenby Dzeee,I tried the rename and did not work for me. The trim memo worked for me, synced after that. Still have ghost memos that I have deleted that show up in iTunes for iphone4. At least my memos are in iTunes for now. Ho hum....

May 22, 2012 2:00 PM in response to Caterpillarby buck8e,I have had no such luck, checking and unchecking boxes, many many times, in different orders. I had an iphone 3GS and I never had a problem with voice memos. When I plugged in my phone to my PC they downloaded just as easily as a song or photo. I have a new iphone 4s and I can't get my voice memos to my itunes. SO FRUSTRATING!!
As I have free Applecare, I spent 15 minutes with a couple guys on the phone (before I found this forum) and they knew nothing of the problem that seems to be so common with other users. They only suggested renaming the memo (didn't work), and unchecking, then checking the boxes (didn't work)

Problem solved until Apple actually fixes this bug
