itunes playlists not showing up on Apple TV.

just got the new apple tv. i have sharing set up and all my music from itunes shows up on the apple tv. in preferences in itunes, the box checked to "share entire library." yet there are no playlists showing up under the "playlists" selection on the apple tv. i just get a blank screen.

all the music shows up and can be selected by album, artist, genre, etc....the playlists just don't show up.

Hi, I have the exact same problem - noticed it this morning with Apple TV. Music playlists is empty although if I go under Artists or Songs I can see the information. Perhaps a software bug?

If you have a large number of Playlists, it may take several minutes for them to appear on AppleTV.

I’m finding that AppleTV doesn’t stay reliably linked to Playlists; they come and go. And it is troublesome to get them to reappear without stopping the play of the current song. If you to to the Playlists screen, ATV quickly reverts to the screen displaying the song. So it is necessary to pause the song, go the Playlists, and wait for the sync to happen again.

I find it essential to have access to Playlists because, with 1336 Artists in my collection, accessing music in the Artists mode is tedious to the point of useless.

My iMac is about 15 feet from the ATV in direct line-of-sight.

I am having the same problem. All my movies and my Tv Shows have "disappeared". Not too sure what to do, and so far Apple Support has been about as good as good as a hole in the head.
I have done the restart, the reconnecting of my computer. But nothing. And worse it has appeared that this morning, the movies that were under my purchased folder in my computer are now all gone. All that has changed on my computer was an itunes update.
Anyone have any ideas?

Same thing here. My library is mostly classical music organized into playlists--typically one for each work, since many classical pieces have multiple movements--and then grouped in playlist folders by composer, or sub-folders within composer by work type. (For example Mozart > String Quartets > String Quartet in C major K. 465.) The "old" Apple TV displayed my playlists just as they appear in iTunes; the new one won't.

Update; after several minutes the playlists do show up. If I exit to a higher-level menu and try to return to playlists, this slow process is repeated.

An Apple Store employee suggested the software developers hadn't anticipated that anyone would have a large music Library (mine is 115 GB) organized in playlists, but that's the most convenient format for me. (It sort of replicates the way record stores--remember them?--used to organize the browser bins--another antique term--in their classical section: composer, work type, sometimes specific work if multiple recorded versions were available. I think we need a software update.
