Why iphone 4 (iOS 4.1) Wifi disconnects after a few minutes of sleeping!

Hi
Please help me!

My iphone 4 with iOS 4.1 wifi keep disconnecting a few minutes after sleeping mode unless I tap and then it reconnects.

Its very irritating as I misses all the IMs push notifications.

I've tried two routers,with both options of having Static IP and DHCP given IP, in both the situation its the same problem as well as also tried while having cellular data on or off, problem still persistent.

Even couldn't receive skype calls in sleep mode.

Apple says iOS 4 solves the problem of having wifi on while in sleep mode, but it goes off on my iphone 4.

Did anyone else facing the same problem?

Try turning cellular data off: Settings>General>Network>Cellular Data>Off. See if your phone will maintain a persistent WiFi connection while in sleep mode with cellular data turned off. By default, with cellular data on, the iphone will disconnect from WiFi while in sleep mode to conserve battery & use the cellular data network for all data needs.

I tried that as well,having cellular data off, butits still the same.

And Im sure its not a problem with my router as I've tried two different routers but its the same result.

The Wifi does stay active for about 10-15 minutes in sleep mode , but after that no more active unless I tap the iphone 4.

Apple added persistent WiFi in iOS 4.0. It appears that this was removed in iOS 4.1, more than likely to preserve battery life. There is nothing you can do.

I got the opposite problem. my iphone 4 keeps connecting wifi even its in sleep mode. and it drains 5% of my battery every hour. Last night I went to bed with 50% of battery. This morning the phone was dead. I left nothing on but wifi, didn't DLed any app from app store.

For me it's the same, but it seems that if you set cellular data or 3G connection ON, then when the iPhone goes in sleep mode, the wifi connection is stopped. I noticed that the wifi doesn't stop if you have cellular data and 3G connection OFF.

Try leaving your iPhone connected to a power source. WiFi should remain connected when the iPhone is connected to the wall charger or other power source, since it doesn't need to conserve battery power.
