Facebook Set Up: "An error occurred with iPhoto Uploader. ...."

I'm attempting my first upload from iPhoto to Facebook. The first step is to Set Up a connection to my Facebook account. I enter my Facebook credentials, and iPhoto responds with this error:

"An error occurred with iPhoto Uploader. Please try again later."

When I try again, iPhoto starts over with Set Up. So it appears the initial connection to Facebook is failing.

I'm running iPhoto '09 (8.1.2) on Mac OS X 10.6.4.

I also just had this same problem all of yesterday. Couldn't find any google results for this error until this one today.
It just keeps on showing that error dialog message in the integrated Facebook popup when trying to set up iPhoto for publishing. Not very helpful error details.
It causes a problem on facebook with too many bad login attempts. But the same credentials I'm trying to enter in iPhoto are successful when logging in a web browser (Safari, Chrome).
The iPhoto app. tells me I have the latest update (currently 8.1.2 (424)). My Mac OS is 10.5.8.
Must be a relatively new bug... very annoying!!!

Not sure if you're still having this problem, but I found the solution. It is with facebook, but you should be able to fix it yourself. I had all applications, games, etc. turned off on Facebook and iPhoto couldn't connect.

On facebook, go to to Privacy -> Apps, Games and Websites and turn ON all platform apps (assuming it's off - if it's not, maybe find a setting there that would potentially block access to iPhoto and correct it)

It appears to be a different problem than the one I encountered.

On Facebbok, navigate to the Prvacy settings page and scroll down to "Apps and Websites" (Upper right arrow on facebook > privacy settings > click Edit settings under "Apps and Websites"). It is here that I had turned off all apps originally and iPhoto could not get access.

If you already have some apps installed, I would double check to make sure iPhoto is not in the list you find by following the above steps. If it is, remove it by clicking the X and try reinstalling it via iPhoto.

If that doesn't work, I'm not sure what else can be done, it is almost certainly an issue on Facebook's end with constantly chaning privacy and ap settings.

I'm experiencing the same problem. I accidentally deleted the iPhoto Uploader app from FB and now I can't get it back on there. I don't have the apps and games blocked in my security settings and everything looks like it should work. This is driving me crazy! I was half way through uploading some new pics to FB when I did it too.

I'm confident the problem is at FB. iPhoto has never done me wrong and even so, I deleted all the preference files and deleted and reinstalled iPhoto itself even. None of that has worked and none of the solutions that come up online seem to work either.

There needs to be a way to recover deleted apps on FB or simply reinstall them. I lost my twitter app when I lost the iPhoto Uploader and didn't have a problem getting it back on there so FB's programming is clearly not communicating very nicely with apple/iphoto's attempts to reinstall and "set-up" the uploader.

Thanks for any help out there!

To add the iPhoto Uploader again if it's no longer on your FB account. Go to an apple store/use a new user/computer that don't have FB active on it's iPhoto. iPhoto version does matter it can be 9 or 11. Then log in for the first time with you FB account. That should add the "iPhoto Uploader" to your account. That can be confrimed by checking your FB applications.

Then delete the FB account in iPhoto from the new computer. That should do it.

Open up iPhoto on you home computer. Change account in iPhoto to your account. So that iPhoto re-registrar your FB.

That should be it.
