Over the last weekend my young cousin came to visit me and inevitably needed to use my computer. Without my knowledge they installed something called the Morphster Toolbar. I deleted it, but that doesn't seem to be enough because things keep popping up about it whenever I open Safari. Can anyone please help me remove this thing completely?
Macbook 2,1,
Mac OS X (10.6.4),
2.0GHZ Intel Core 2 Duo, 4.0GB RAM(Reads 3.2GB), and 400.00GB HD
Open a Finder window. Select your Home folder in the Sidebar on the left. Now open the Library folder the the Internet Plugins folder and the Applications Support folder.
See if it's hiding there.
If it isn't there, in that Finder window select MacintoshHD in the Sidebar on the left. Open the Library folder then the Internet Plug-Ins folder. See if it's there. If not, try the Input Managers folder.
Also, try finding it with Spotlight. Top right corner of your Mac Desktop. Click the magnifying glass icon.
A box appears that has the default Application image next to a yellow caution sign with an exclamation point in it. The to the right of that in bold it says, "Community Toolbar" Below this it says, "We're sorry, but the Safari browser version you are currently using doesn't support the Community Toolbar"
It can be an ESPN toolbar, FaceBook toolbar, radio listening toolbar,
Vuze toolbar, any site people regularly go to, can get this piece of crap,
and rename it to their site's name. As we know, it causes havoc.
Indeed, I love the Apple Discussions, I always go here with my questions first, it's very convenient and everyone on it is so friendly and knowledgeable.
Well, we all started out as newbies . . .
and I know I got tremendous help here many years ago, when I had messed up my new Mac.
What goes around, comes around.
