Help - Wifi access using netgear wpn824 (v2)

I have read countless postings across numerous sites to find a resolution to my problem. I have a new iTouch4 which works fine everyplace else, but my home. The netgear wpn824v2 router connects to my macbook with no issues. I get the 3bar signal strength on my itouch when I connect to the wi-fi connection. I have changed the router settings and manually added my iTouch's MAC address, as one user suggested. I also released/renewed the router and restarted my iTouch. None of these have worked. I am so frustrated and ready to return the device....anybody have any luck with this problem??? Thanks.

Go to Settings > WiFi > your network name and tap the >

You should see
* Device IP - if it starts with 169.x then your router has not issued you an IP * Subnet mask - it should have three sets of 255 followed by a .0 . If not, your router is the culprit.
* Router IP - if it is blank, see 1
* DNS server - if it is blank, see 1

You also should have "Renew Lease" and "Forget this Network" buttons. Try pressing Renew Lease to see if you get a device IP. If not, try "Forget this Network"

If you still have problems,
1)Be sure your router has the latest firmware.
2)Unplug it for 15 sec then plug it back in.
3)Trying turning off MAC filtering and seeing if you can connect.

Hope that works. Let us know.

Well that's frustrating! I know MAC filtering works because that's what I do.

1) Did you try turning off MAC filtering and testing?
2) Have you looked through [Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections|http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398]?
3) This seems like a long shot, but how about [Potential sources of interference for wireless devices and networks|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1365]
4) You have a 4th gen which does support 802.11n Wi-Fi networks (2.4 GHz only)but have you tried also opening up your router to 802.11b/g ?

Thanks so much for continuing to offer help...it is much appreciated. I tried the MAC suggestion, and no luck. I also went through the troubleshooting link with no luck. The final suggestion you made is a bit over my technical head, so to speak. I know how to log into my router, but ensuring it is open to the specs you mentioned (802.11n), I am not sure how to do that. I have a netgear wpn824 (v2) router, so if you have any thoughts on how to confirm the last suggestion, I am all ears.

I might also mention that the iTouch shows the network is connected and has all three bars light up in blue. I receive the error message "server stopped responding" when I attempt to use anything that requires Internet connection (safari, iTunes stpre, etc...). Not sure if that brings any additional suggestions or not.

You said your IP address is 192.168.x.x but would you scroll down and see if the subnet net mask is filled out correctly (probably a 255.255.255.0, the router IP is showing, and the DNS IP is also filled out - the last two probably with 192.x. If that's all correct, tap Renew Lease (you may have to do this several times) and try again.

If still no joy, it's probably not the 802.11 b/g but I think on your model it's under Wireless Settings>Wireless Network> Mode and is a drop down list. Set it so it includes b/g.

As long as your there, does your SSID have only alpha characters, no "..."?

And security options set to None.

Can you also check, under Advanced Wireless Settings (I think) that your SSID is Enabled to broadcast?

Are you on firmware version 2.0.26?

I'm kinda at the end of what I can think of here. I see that Netgear has [user forums|http://kb.netgear.com/app/products/model/a_id/2629] and I'm wondering if they might have ideas.

What's frustrating is that it connects other places and your other computers connect to it. You've done all the things I would try and maybe they'd have some other ideas.

Let us know how it goes.
