Quicktime 6.5- is that a free upgrade or download? needs registration code?

Hi, I'm running Quicktime 6.4 and want to upgrade to 6.5.
Can I download that for free?
I did download it, but then I was prompted to enter a registration numer (or come back and do this later). I don't have a registration number and do not want to buy one, and I am afraid if I try to continue with the registration I may reach a point where I cannot open Quicktime at all (even my original 6.4)-- which I do not want to be the case.

I thought I was downloading a legit and completely free version of Quicktime 6.5. I'm confused because some websites (I think even Apple's) say that downloading even Quicktime 7 is free, but then one has to purchase a registration code. On the other hand, I think downloading Quicktime 6.5 for Windows is 100% free at some legit websites.

So I want Quicktime 6.5 for my iMac.

Should I continue with my installation without a registration number, or will I then not be able to use Quicktime at all?
Thank you.

iMac Mac OS X (10.3.9)
