Screen cleaning cloths

A lot of users use a micro cloth like you mentioned. If you want to find the previous discussions you can use the search function on the right and search the iPad forum for: clean. There is quite a few.

For "cleaning" I use lens cleaner, it's non abrasive and larger bottles can be found cheap at places like Sam's Club, us it on all my large screen LCD TVs and such.. For quick cleaning I use a cloth which came with one of our big screen LCD TVs, Samsung always supplies one with their TVs.

Walgreens has a nice cheap microfiber eyeglass cleaner for about $4 that works great for iPad.

Or if you're passing the camera store in the mall, they sell lens cleaning cloths for about the same price, too.

I agree with the previous poster about not using cleaning solutions on the ipad screen. Apple recommends water only, on a damp cloth.

I bought a metre of polyester microfibre glass-cleaning fabric. Cut up into eight-inch squares, it would have made 45 cleaning cloths. Cost: $8 Canadian.

I used most of it to line the iPad sleeves I sewed.

I swear by this product it is brill and safe on all electronic gadgets. It leaves no smears whatsoever. You get the cloths as well and it kills all germs as well.

The best thing I have found for cleaning the screen is the shoe shine cloth that you find in the hotel rooms with the free soaps, etc...

I do have a screen protector and wouldn't recommend it on a naked screen, as it is rough and could scratch. But if you have the screen protector, it works great.

The best cleaning cloth I have found are the cloths you get free when you buy a new pair of glasses.

The following is a C&P from the iPad User Guide:

+To clean iPad, unplug all cables and turn off iPad (press and hold the Sleep/ Wake button, and then slide the onscreen slider). Then use a soft, slightly damp, lint-free cloth. Avoid getting moisture in openings. Don’t use window cleaners, household cleaners, aerosol sprays, solvents, alcohol, ammonia, or abrasives to clean iPad. iPad has an oleophobic coating on the screen; simply wipe the iPad screen with a soft, lint-free cloth to remove oil left by your hands. The ability of this coating to repel oil will diminish over time with normal usage, and rubbing the screen with an abrasive material will further diminish its effect and may scratch your screen.+
