Computer crashed, how do i transfer songs from itouch to itunes ?
My computer crashed and i would like to know how i would sync my ipod with new computer, because i try to sync new songs on my new computer, but a window pops up saying like Would you like to erase & Sync ? And i don't want to do that, what do i do to get my songs on my new computer ?
Sadly, you can only transfer purchases(bought from itunes store) from your ipod.
If your computer is authorized to same account as your ipod, then another option should be present that asks if you would like to transfer purchases. To authorize your computer from the
store menu click on *Authorize Computer* and enter your account information corresponding to the ipod you wish to transfer music from.
For piracy concerns Apple makes it very hard to get non-purchased items off an iPod and onto a new computer. This is why you should have a backup of critical information. Computers/hard drives do crash.
1)In iTunes, go to Edit>Preferences>check Prevent iPods from syncing automatically.
2)Next, go up to Store>Authorize this computer.
3)Connect your ipod, select it, and right click. Select Transfer Purchases. This will transfer over any Apps or Music you purchased from the iTunes store.
4)Also, while right clicked, select Back up. You will want this back up when you sync your ipod with your new computer so you can restore from your backup. See [About Backups|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766] to learn what's included in a backup, but note that it does not include the items in step 3.
5)You also will need to restore from the backup made in step 4. [http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414] will tell you how. When prompted to create another backup before you restore, decline as you will use the backup from step 4.
If you had music on it that you did not purchase from the iTunes store, and you had no back up of your computer's data, then you are out of luck as far as Apple's software. You will need to get a third party solution such as [CopyTrans|http://www.copytrans.net/copytrans.php]to transfer music from your ipod.
