Battery meter is not moving and stuck at 100%

I have a 2G iphone with 3.1.3. Jailbroken.

The phone was working great including the battery meter. Until one day I noticed the battery meter is not moving and I am not getting low battery alert and just dies. Didn't install anything new, didn't change any settings.

I tried to do hard reset million times, leave it in the charger overnight after it dies everyday (this is what I used to do anyway), I did restore it few times and nothing is working and it became very annoying specially when I am out for long time and I am not sure how much is left in the battery and don't want just to put it in the charger everywhere I go.

I hope I provided enough details about the phone and the issue and I would appreciate your help. Thanks.

iPhone, iPhone OS 3.1.3
