How do I create a 480p DVD?

Hi, relatively new to FC Studio/Compressor and I'm trying to create a 480p (720x480) DVD out of my HD source (Apple ProRes 422, 1920x1080) that has a 29.97 frame rate.

I tried using what I normally use for 480i DVDs (best quality preset setting) then adjusted the settings by selecting the H.264 for DVD Studio Pro file format in the inspector. I managed to get what appears to be a 'progressive' output (sure looks much better), but in the process the aspect ration gets squashed to 4x3.

Am I using the right process to get to 480p? How can I retain the same aspect ratio as my source?

I hope I've given enough information, but I'm not sure so please let me know.

MPEG-2 is your only choice for standard DVDs. Do NOT use H.264 files. They have to converted to MPEG-2 which leads to double compression and guaranteed loss of quality.

If you want 480p, then you have to start with 24p footage, not 29.97. There are various means of converting your 29.97 footage to 24p, but you will get the best results from having shot and edited 24p to begin with.
