Battery life sucks!

I just got the iPod nano as a gift about two weeks ago engraved. I love it, except I am finding the battery life really *****.
My brightness is at 50% and I use it to listen to the radio and I lock it while the radio plays so the screen is not on, but I am finding it lasts about half a work day where as my regular iPod touch lasts waaaaaay longer.

Is this how its suppose to be cause it’s smaller? The apple website says 24 hours of playback time on a fully charged battery. It's definitely not even close to 24. I've been using it since 7:30am and its now 2:30 and it's almost fully drained. Should I take it into apple? Does it make a difference that it's engravd?

I don't listen to the radio on my Nano 6th gen as the whole reason (for me) for having a digital music player is so that I don't have to listen to the radio. However, there have been numerous threads about the battery life and many people have reported that the radio drains the battery much more quickly than listening to stored music. You can use the "Search Discussions" box up and to the right to find some of them.

It's very dependent on how much you play with it while your using it. When I'm not messing with it a bunch and just let it shuffle, it will last all weekend (~12-14 hrs use). But a couple days ago at work when I was using it for the store music, and choosing pretty much every song that played. It was fully charged in the morning and by the end of the day it was in the red, and that was my short 6 hour day.

I have a feeling this is the real reason Apple isn't including video playback, it won't last 5 hours playing a video.

Well, I don't know if it's true but it happened for me.

The more charge cycles you have, the longer the battery will last.
Meaning something like:
When you charge it once, the battery lasts for 2 hours maybe.
For me, after around 5 separate charge cycles, it could last approx. 6 hours in total. 😀

Sounds strange, and most probably it's just me, but apparently my iPod 6Gen works like that... >v<

I own an ipod nano 6G.
The main flaw is battery life when listening to the radio.

Apple states 24 hours of battery life.
In my normal use (radio + some music playback, switching from a album to another using the earphones with the remote) the battery lasts 3-4 hours.

I tried testing the battery, by playing the same album on repeat, without touching the screen or fast/back forwarding or skipping songs, with the volume half down.
The battery did last 24 hours. But this is not how most people use the ipod is it?

I ran another test - letting the ipod on a radio channel, with volume half way down. The battery lasted 5 hours this time. Quite a big difference, isn't it?

I am not very happy with this 6th gen ipod nano.

Hopefully this will be amended with the next firmware release.

Battery life sucks!
