iTunes - Network Connection Time Out

I installed iTunes for the first time last week and it was working fine. I had some virus activity going on after the installation and after my antivirus software detected it, it seems to be gone. Then I had issues connecting to the internet with firefox and had to change my proxy setting. Since then, I have not been able to access the iTunes store. I am getting the following error message: iTunes could not connect to the iTunes store. The network connection timed out. Here are the results from the diagnostic test:

I am getting the same thing. It was working fine on the 13th Oct. Downloaded podcasts, updated apps etc. This morning 14th it says connection timed out you are not connected to the internet. Which since I then went on the apple web site downloaded and repaired itunes with the latest version (which I had anyway) wasn't true. My iPad connects fine via my wifi and it syncs back ok. Switched on switched off. Configured Norton to make sure it allowed itunes. Same old same old. I too had some virus issues which Norton had caught and I am fully patched with the latest MS mega update.

I am having the same problem!! I have tried all the possible fixes given on the website and have emailed Apple for help. They have not worked - I am still getting the message that my network connection has timed out. I wonder if it has to do with upgrading to Version 10 of Itunes?? It seems to have started after I downloaded the latest version.

I just upgraded my wife's computer, and we are having the same problem. I've tried everything from adding iTunes to the allowed programs list on the windows firewall, to turning the firewall completely off. Nothing has worked. Currently I'm downloading iTunes 9, to see if it's just a bug with this program. I also have been running the diagnostic tests in iTunes, and sometimes my Secure Connection to iTunes Store passes, and sometimes it fails. No matter what however, I cannot download her two songs. I keep getting Error 3259.

Me too! Having troubles via iTunes 10 on PC, and iPad, and son's iPod touch. Only started yesterday. Can't login to my iTunes account, any apps that I try to download just sit there waiting. Pleased it's not just me (sorry!) but this is getting frustrating. Tried bouncing my router, checked firewall etc. Also run diagnostics from iTunes/help on iTunes which confirms that there's a problem accessing the account -great! - but doesn't tell me any more!

For everybody else, did you just take a Windows Update? I did, and windows firewall tried to block itunes. iTunes was already in its list of allowed programs. It should not have given me that pop-up.

If your Windows Firewall settings are not enabled to allow the pop-ups, the firewall would block it silently in the background.

Anyway. I took itunes out of the list and put it back in, power cycled my router and cable modem, and I can connect to the store again. Something is funky with one of the latest windows security updates.
