Oct 14, 2010 4:14 AM in response to gehrcby gehrc,The exact error is: "Mounting failed: Unable to connect to the file server. Check the network configuration and server parameters or try again later. (Error code -37)". -
Oct 14, 2010 11:03 AM in response to gehrcby Jon Chappell,Error code -37 means "bad filename". Check to make sure there are no unsupported characters in any of the files you are uploading or any of the directories you are uploading to. -
Oct 14, 2010 11:47 AM in response to Jon Chappellby gehrc,No... I only know this because I tried uploading the same files, and I can do it fine. It gives that error for other users. -
Oct 17, 2010 8:57 PM in response to gehrcby John F. Whitehead,Are you going through a firewall that is blocking the ports you need to have open?
Also, look in your server logs for related error messages. -
Oct 18, 2010 4:19 AM in response to John F. Whiteheadby gehrc,There is a firewall on our network. However, I have the same rights as other students, and am able to do uploads, but others cannot. Everyone can connect and download files, it's just the uploads that are giving us issues. -
Oct 18, 2010 4:26 AM in response to gehrcby gehrc,The error that appears in the log is
"Oct 18 07:21:14 (computer name) [0x0-0x159159].com.apple.jnlp-http__(fqdn)__~fcsvr_webstartmacJnlp.php[15221]: WARNING: Mounting failed: Unable to connect to the file server. Check the network configuration and server parameters or try again later. (Error code -37)"
Also this one, in the FCS log:
"07:39:53.989925 0xa031c720 INFO2 traceMsg KrObRemoteChannel.C:386 [Ko] channel=0x1006400 tx reply --> { transId 863, instance { { ldsserver = { atom lds } } }, msgType REPLY, msgId errorKs, data { CODE = E_FILE, DESC = Mounting failed: Unable to connect to the file server. Check the network configuration and server parameters or try again later. (Error code -37), SRC_FILE = KsURLMount.C, SRC_LINE = 347 } }"
I'm also on a desktop version of OS X if it matters - 10.5.8.

Oct 19, 2010 1:50 PM in response to gehrcby Alejandro Grigera,Can you explain exactly what you are doing? So far I understand you are trying to upload from FCS (manualy with the Upload option from FCS I guess) But what I don't understand is where are the files that you need to upload located? When you say "you" can do it is with your FCS user or is it with you Windows user?
The more you tell us the faster we can help you
Best regards -
Oct 19, 2010 6:04 PM in response to Alejandro Grigeraby gehrc,All I'm really doing is trying to upload a video file from Final Cut to the Final Cut Server. Ignore the specs I have on my profile - they're for my main pc. We use all Macs in our editing lab. The NAS is a Windows Server 2003 Enterprise machine with a file share set-up. From there, the FCS connects to the Windows NAS. Using Active Directory, we service logins to the FCS Machine. The necessary groups have admin privileges on the NAS and the FCS. However, I am the only person who is able to upload videos without getting that -37 error code. I am able to upload any video that others cannot basically. I'm really not sure at this point what the issue could be. The FCS Machine is just a standard iMac.
I appreciate all you guys are doing so far! This is just really frustrating... especially when you purchase something like this that's pretty expensive. -
Oct 20, 2010 5:43 AM in response to gehrcby Alejandro Grigera,Ok so first thing first. You are using AD to log and control the access to FCS.
I guess you have read this to make that work: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3818
And of course this is only available in FCS 1.5
Just a few qustions to make things easier with an example
1) Where is FCS server running (imac ?)
2) Let say you are using a client in one of the mac with FCP
3) Now let say you have a file in that mac you want to upload to FCS and you are one of the users that get the error -37
4) You login in the MAC with AD user? You login to the FCS with the same user? Same user to mount the NAS share?
5) What permissions that user have in FCS, the local MAC and in the NAS where the FCS is uploading the file (wich should be a device from FCS)
Sorry if I'm being very childish in the example but for me it seems a very complex setup you have and I really want to help you fix your problem. -
Oct 20, 2010 8:21 AM in response to gehrcby John F. Whitehead,And what are the errors on the NAS server? What does it report as being the problem when someone tries to upload a file? -
Oct 20, 2010 9:18 AM in response to Alejandro Grigeraby gehrc,Hey, it's no problem. I want to get it fixed too!
1) The FCS server is running on a 24" iMac running Leopard 10.5.8. The clients are all 21" iMac's on the same version of Leopard.
2-4) Everyone logs into the Macs using their AD Accounts. I have followed the directions on Apple's site to get that working, and I have the latest update which I obtained through Software Update. The FCS Server is always logged into the admin account we use to administer the computer as needed. However, we use an account called FCServer, which is a local user on the NAS, to connect to the NAS from the FCS in the actual application. I also have it set to mount when the computer boots.
5) ALL groups have admin privileges in FCS. The NAS user account is just local to the NAS, so it has no permissions in AD.
Also, I haven't gotten any errors on the NAS itself, only in the FCS logs.
Thanks! -
Oct 20, 2010 11:25 AM in response to gehrcby Alejandro Grigera,Ok so you say that all the AD users with the error have admin permission set assign to them from within FCS?
Including the user that works? What's the name of that user and does it have any privileges on the NAS?
If all tha users have admin permission set I don't see why you won't be able to upload a clip to FCS storing the file in the NAS.
I assume you have a FCS device wich is a share folder in the NAS and you connect to that share using FCServer user.
And the files you are trying to upload are locally in the iMAC's? -
Oct 20, 2010 11:38 AM in response to Alejandro Grigeraby gehrc,In the FCS, under the groups section, they're all listed as admins. The groups are specific to their graduating classes, so they're Class of 2011, Class of 2012, etc. My User account is in the Class of 2011 group, and I don't believe it has any special privileges on the machine, or any machine for that matter.
The FCS device is a shared folder, and the FCS connects to it as an admin with that local user account. All the files trying to be uploaded exist locally on each iMac. -
Oct 20, 2010 12:17 PM in response to gehrcby Alejandro Grigera,If any other user of the Class of 2011 group have tried to upload a file and end up with -37 error except for yours then we have to agree that you have a very nusty bug or there is in fact something special about that user.
One more thing, FCS is running under wich user in the 24" iMAC? It should be the user you were logged in during installation but you can check on the activity monitor. Now I never run with AD so I don't know if you can run FCS with a local user if you want to use AD. If you see the link it clearly say that when you use AD you loose the option to use local or OD users with FCS but it doesn't say anything about the user under wich FCS runs.
Best regards
