Items disappeared from Album

Today when I fired up Aperture, I discovered that dozens of images were suddenly missing from one of my albums.

They all still seem to be in the Library (which I rebuilt to no avail), but they just evaporated from the album in which I had collected them. This was very disconcerting at first, and it's been a pain to reassemble them all.

What's going on?
Why would this happen?
And what, if anything, can I do to prevent it happening again?

Welcome to the Aperture Forums

It is quite possible that you have entered a criteria inthe search field and this is affecting what you see.

Check the number of images in the album vs the number of images being displayed, in the following area of the interface, (ignore the descriptions, this is an image from a previous post)

I can assure you that the first thing I did was to look and see if my view was filtered. I am indeed "Showing All."

That said, my Library Inspector sidebar view of the Project/Album hierarchy does not show item counts as you have illustrated. How do you make that happen?

Under Preferences->Appearance, there is an option to show number of versions for projects and albums. Ensure it's checked.

This has happened to me YET AGAIN.

I added items back into the album. I had it up to over 400 items. Then today, I open it and it's showing only 182 items.

***?????

Now I have item count enabled, and of course I am "showing all." I rebuilt the Library as well. I am running the most recent version of Aperture.

Having to re-build albums over and over is both frustrating and erodes my confidence in Aperture's ability to actually keep track of my images.
