Q: Caching and Streaming but No Copying of Films or Proxies

I would like to make films ie. proxies available for client viewers. The viewers should not be able to save the films locally, and make copies of them. The proxies should be streamed to client computers but not cached there. After FCS installation, clients who view proxies can also make copies of them and use them for other purposes. Is there a way to prohibit this ability?

Powermac, Mac OS X (10.5.8)

Not within FCSvr itself. You could hook your FCSvr into MediaSilo to get a web-based review tool that allows you to control access to content.

If someone can watch a film, they can save it and make copies of it.

Just because it isn't cached doesn't mean that can't save and copy it. For example, they could run a screen recorder, or even just hold up a videocamera to the computer screen.

If you don't trust the viewer, don't give them access to your content.

Or watermark your films so if they do try to use one, it is obvious where it came from.
