Logic 9.1.2 and TouchOSC

Has anyone had any luck getting Logic 9.1.2 to recognize TouchOSC on the iPhone. Logic can see my iphone and it appears that the setup is correct. However, there are no midi messages being received by Logic. What am I missing. Has anyone else gotten this combo to work with the new feature in 9.1.2 without having to use OSCulator?

I have it working on both an iphone and an ipad. Make sure you set the incoming and outgoing ports to different numbers in the Network setup window. I have the Outgoing set to 7000 and the incoming set to 7001. I also let Logic discover the devices automatically. Just go to Logic Pro/Preferences/Control Surfaces/Setup and under "new" select Automatic Installation. I had tried to install them with a scan at first and it didn't work but once I let Logic discover them and install, everything was peachy. Pretty amazing stuff!

Thanks for the tip Steve. Unfortunately I have it configured just as you describe (Logic automatically scanned and installed the iPhone and ports 7000 and 7001) but I'm still not having much success. Oddly, when I switch pages in OSC on the iPhone the channel EQ will open. So it is getting some messages. Unfortunately though, when I put it into Learn mode Logic won't respond to any actions in OSC. I'm stumped.

I just noticed that the developer has updated the touchosc-default-layouts zip file on the touchOSC web site. It now has the two Logic layouts (LogicTouch and LogicPad). If you open these in the TouchOSC Editor you will see that the names of each control are named for controls that Logic will understand. For example, in the layout Mix16 on page one the first fader is named "fader1" and the OSC tag below is set to "/1/fader1". If you change the name to "volume" which is what Logic understands then the OSC tag updates to "/1/volume". If you sync this down to your iPhone it should work. I just tested it on my and it works fine. I haven't tried adjusting other controls but you should be able to figure them out by looking at the Logic layouts.

Note: it appears that Logic expects all lower case names for controls (ie. "volume" and not "Volume"). I may be wrong about this but it only worked when I changed it to all lower case letters.

Hope this helps.
