Cannot verify server Identity on Iphone 4 on 3G

Hi,

I have been using my Iphone 4 for almost 2 months now in my office where there is no Wi-Fi network. So, I use 3G network.
Recently, every time I start using my phone (irrespective of If I am using internet or not), I get this error message -
"Cannot Verify Server Identity
Wi-Fi can't verify the identy of "10.1.1.1" Would you like to conitue anyway?
The buttons are - Cancel / Details/ Continue."

Irrespective of the button I click, I am taken to a log-in screen. I have no idea which login id or password should I enter? Also, my 3G contiue to work. This error message does not affect my internet access. Moreover, when I am at home and using Wi-Fi, this error never crops up.

I never had this problem ever before. And Its turning out to be pretty irritating. Even if I click the Photos, this error crops up.

Can you let me know what can I do to get over with this error?

This one drove me nuts. My iPhone 4s was syncing fine and we upgraded to the new build. Then it stopped working. My IT group spent days on our 2003 Small Business Server and couldn't figure it out. I finally found someone who fix our problems within 30 minutes for a flat fee. Not sure why I didn't find him sooner. Here is their site: iphone exchange setup experts . They truly saved me and our law firm many extra hours of frustration.

Go to app store abd pick "SSL Detective". Run and insert ie: "static.ak.facebook.com" or "smtp.gmail.com" or "www.google.com" and send by email. Open email and install the certificates.

works for me.

Having this same issue. But only when sending photos, or forwarding emails with attachments...

but I can send myself an email saying hello....

Resetting password does nothing. Deleteing the enitre mail account, and readding it does nothing..

What the ****!!! I Just want to email, a picture is it too much to ask?

I had let my iphone battery run down. Since I had set Date and Time manually, it was wrong. I kept getting these Cannot verify server identity messages, and solved it by following the suggestion above to set my time and date. Works fine now.

There was something wrong with the date and time (I was changing it to cheat on a game 😝) and i set it back to automtic and eveything was back to normal. This worked for me and it might work for you if that's the case.

The problem can happen on iPad too — any iOS device. In iOS 7, go to Settings > General > Date & Time, and make sure Set Automatically is turned on. If the date and time are set too far in the past or future, you will get these Cannot verify server identity warnings all over the place. You may also find that you cannot access the App Store and certain apps.

Ran into this today (sorry to dig up an old thread) with an iPhone 4S and iOS 8. Solved by:

1. Go to Settings > General > Date & Time

2. Turn "Set Automatically" to OFF

3. Plugged phone into PC And synced using iTunes

4. Go back to Date & Time options and turn on "Set Automatically".

Mine is doing this too - it's really annoying. Stops when you switch off wifi though.

Are you sure about this - that there is no workaround? I'm getting this error message repeatedly since upgrading to 4.2.1. This is extremely annoying.

I just posted another question in the other thread, but you answered it here for me.
I shall talk to my IT guys here and see if they can do anything about the certificate.

It used to go away, now it asks me evert &#!@ time.

+1 on the constant query to authenticate the certificate. It's gonna be a long holiday weekend checking email. Good luck getting a hold of IT guys to get an authenticated certificate before Monday!

+1 Having the same problem on my iphone 3G with my domain name's email address. Not a problem with my mobileme address.
