No Quartz Extreme/0 VRAM

I just replaced my graphics card for my Mac Pro. Went from an Nvidea GT 7300 to an ATI Radeon 5770. It works great on my windows side (through bootcamp) and even seem sto be displaying pictures (like my back ground) properly on my Mac OSx side.

When I try to open up Final Cut Pro, however, I get the error messages:

Final Cut Pro requires that your system have a Quartz Extreme capable video card.

Final Cut Pro requires that your system have 128 MB of VRAM; this system has only 0MB of VRAM.

The card has a gig of VRAM, and it shows in in the system profiler.

Help?

Mac Pro, Mac OS X (10.5.8)

Trash Final Cut Pro's preferences files using this: http://www.digitalrebellion.com/pref_man.htm
When you open FCP afterwards, new pref files will be built with default values and a fresh RT profile will be generated.

The RT profile is determined by the capabilities of your graphics card and other components. As you have a new graphics card, the RT profile is no longer accurate. Generating a new profile may help.

I'm rocking the same boat. The only difference is that I ended up retuning the ATI card back to the store and kept my 7300 GT. But I get the same VRAM=0 as you are getting.

I ended up doing some Software Updates, since I reinstalled my Mac Pro, 1,1 from scratch --and later upgraded the nvidia firmware update (since I plan on running BootCamp).

Since going back to the GeForce shows 0 RAM, when I know it was showing 256MB in the past, there must be something inside the 10.6.4 graphics update that messes this up it think.

This also happened to me, but only when connected to a Dell 21" monitor running at 1600x1200.

If it is connected to a Mac 23" (1920x1080), then FCP runs fine.

Playing around with the resolution on the Dell made no difference. Maybe FCP requires a wide screen monitor? It certainly works on my Macbook pro without problems which has less resolution than the Dell monitor.
