How to use iTunes gift card for movies from Apple TV?

I just got apple TV 2nd generation and when I go to purchase a movie it wants to use my credit card instead using the available credit that I have on iTunes from my gift card. In other words I guess it is not recognizing the credit on my iTunes account or can gift cards not be used for apple tv purchases?

You have to go into your iTunes account and delete the credit card information. The store will then default to using your gift card.

Hi there. Does it actually give you a message stating it's going to charge your credit card or is it simply asking to verify your information? You may see a prompt if your information is not up-to-date or if you have an expired credit card on file.

Also, Apple TV does show the credit card summary but it will charge your gift card by default as long as credit is available. You can verify your available credit by going to Store > View My Account from iTunes on your computer.

You don't have to remove your credit card, if there is credit on the account then that is used automatically.
