what is best reference book for a convert?

i have just bought my first mac. the book i bought with it is useless. what is a good reference for a pc to mac convert?

Ditto on the missing manual by D Pogue. Unless you are a real geek, it's the only book you will need. Very practical, yet has the tech detail you may need.

i think i will take a look at both of these.

i guess i can free up shelf space by getting rid of all my dos and windows references. but that makes me feel a little sad. when i finally had the syntax right on a dos command, i felt so smart and empowered!

I'm really glad you got so much great advice.
One more thing that really helped me -- and it's free --
is reading the boards here.

I started with my current OS an Safari.
Just a few minutes here and there.
I learned tons.
