Best app for Apple Remote Desktop for the iPad?

Tried iTeleport - The lag makes it almost useless (and no, it's not wi-fi issues).
Tried Remote HD - Ripped off! Requires some 3rd party app to run in the background on the host machine. Obviously I refuse.

Where's the real Apple Remote Desktop for this thing?
Anyone?

I bought this device for 1 thing and 1 thing only - a wireless remote for the Macbook Pro. So far it's almost a complete fail.

dual 2.7 G5 (8G RAM); 2.8GHz MBP (6G RAM, 48G SSD 500G HD); iPad, Mac OS X (10.6.3), Water cooled G5's rule!

That is, unfortunately, the risk you take when you try to use something in a way the designers didn't envision. The fact that there is no Apple Desktop Remote should tell you something.

Best of luck.

I've tried several remote desktop iPad apps (Desktop, LogMeIn, Wyse, etc). My take is that VNC is good but does not support remote sound to the iPad. To get sound you have to use client software that supports RDP.

My current preference is Wyse. Yes, there is some desktop connection stuff to setup, and it costs a few $, but it does work (with sound).

Incidentally, I have yet to use any remote desktop software that doesn't lag to some extent. Obviously a fast network is better, but they all have some lag.

Thanks for the tips! Certainly I don't expect zero lag but I was expecting similar performance to using a 2nd computer with Apple Remote Desktop. Right now it works almost like that sometimes but then sometimes will hang for 10 seconds or even a minute or drop the connection. I questioned this in the Apple store when I purchased it and they told me it was operating normally. Although I should add that nobody in the store seemed to know how to use it!
I'll try out Wyse.
Say, can you tell me more about this? Their web page has almost no information. Can you confirm that this will work without installing a 3rd party app on the host machine and that it will work on a local network (non-internet)?
Thanks

Yes, Wyse works fine over a local network. You have to install some Wyse software on your host PC, so that your remote connection is authenticated.

Wyse does connections using VNC and ADP, make sure you set up the ADP connection if you want remote sound. I am making an assumption that you wish to remotely connect to a Windows Host, as I believe ADP is a Microsoft protocol, so I'm not sure it is available on other OSs.

The iPad App link on iTunes gives you a link to the product-specific info.

Can you elaborate a little more please? I'll never be running windows. All I can find on the Wyse page is the windows workaround info. Nothing on the basic Mac features. I need:
1. A reliable wireless connection from iPad to Macbook Pro using either the built in wireless card or an external router.
2. Full gesture support.
3. Full desktop control of the Macbook Pro including sending the internal core audio sound output to the iPad.

I will never use this to connect to a home machine over the internet or connect to any machine running Windows so those features are of no interest to me.

I've got a similar problem and no idea of any solution. I'm not so used to the whole remote desktop thing.

I've got a server, I would like to install Apple remote Desktop on that server. And I've got a number of iPhones / iPads. Now my goal ist to find an app that works with Apple remote desktop, let's say over VPN connection, so that I can restart my server in the case of any inconveniances, just from anywhere.

Does this work and with wich app?

Thank's a lot for your help!

I have no problems with wifi. For example, I have the Time Warner iPad app that lets me watch TV channels on my iPad using my local wifi - no problems, no lag. In fact, generally, I don't experience slowness. Safari, since the iOS 4 upgrade has been very good.

However, when I do experience a slowdown (it's rare, but has happened), I just perform a reset and everything is back to normal.
