iPhoto Disappeared

I went to go open up iPhoto and it isn't in the dock or the applications folder. Where could it be?

Ok, so what do you do... if by some chance, you ... hypothetically of course... didn't think to use time machine and erhhhh deleted Iphoto by accident???

It's still in my dock though but has a huge question mark on it, so im not sure i actually DID delete it. But its possible im an idiot 🙂

HELP? Can i get it back? All my photos are still there....

At the risk of sounding computer illiterate....
When i try to start up time machine it doesnt give me an option of a disk to pick to back everything up on. Its just blank. And then the time capsule option doesn't seem to want to cooperate either.
MACs are much more confusing then i had anticipated !

No. It was there this morning and then I later when I went to look for it again, it wasn't there. I haven't emptied my trash for a while.

What are the ways to get it to disappear from the dock? I know that dragging it off and clicking remove from dock put it in the applications folder, but I didn't do any of those. How would it go missing?

You may have dragged iPhoto out of your Applications folder and into another folder.
Search for it using 'Spotlight' or 'Find Any File' http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/30079/find-any-file
or 'EasyFind' http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/11076/easyfind
Your iPhoto didn't just fly off into the sunset 😉
If its not there anymore then you would have to have deleted it; it
would not just disappear on its own.

I presume that clicking on the question mark in the dock doesn't invoke iPhoto. If you've searched with 'Spotight', 'EasyFind' or 'Find any File' and haven't found it, then you've likely trashed it.
If you haven't securely deleted your iPhoto app then you may be able to recover it using something like 'Disk Drill: http://www.cleverfiles.com/
If you can't recover iPhoto then your own photos are lost forever.

Alicia says all her photos are still there, Anonymouse. Only the application is missing, and reinstalling it should give her access to all the photos again.

OK, If her photos are still there, which would mean they still are on her hard drive somewhere, where can those files be found?
I'm thinking that if her own photo files are not there then a fresh iPhoto installation will not contain her photo collection.

Where the photos are stored depends upon whether Alicia has been using a managed library (iPhoto's default) or a referenced library.

With a managed iphoto library, all the photos and everything necessary to display, organize, and manipulate them is stored in the iPhoto Library folder inside the user's own Pictures folder. One should never mess with the contents of the iPhoto Library folder in the Finder, or using any application other than iPhoto.

With a referenced library, the photos are wherever the user has chosen to keep them — which could be anywhere in the internal hard drive or any external storage media — and those locations are recorded by iPhoto so it can retrieve them as needed. One must avoid moving photos once iPhoto has taken note of their locations if one is running a referenced library.
