Please verify the contact email address for your Apple ID.

Good morning

I just got an email titled "Please verify the contact email address for your Apple ID." I am quite sure it is a phishing email so I decided to post here so people smarter then I am could confirm my belief. The words "Verify Now" are the URL and contains the following link

I got the "verify email" email and responed (foolishly quick). Then I read these threads, got worried and changed my password at the Apple site just in case.

I did however remember that the night before I got the email I was using the *"Inception-augmented dream" App on my iPhone* and it asked me to register for game-centre or something and mentioned that an email verification was required so I wasn't surprised to see the email.

I have since done the whole read the header from the email thing and I did an IP search for the addresses in the header and they seem to me to be apple affiliated, maybe someone more familiar with this could let me know if I'm wrong.

Received: from unknown (HELO gambell.apple.com) ([17.128.113.99])

Received: from badger1802.apple.com ([17.254.6.247])

I typed them in here
http://www.ip-adress.com/ip_tracer/

I too will let you know if anything goes funny with my account.

I know this topic has gone a while without reply but it is the only thread I can find through google on this topic. My wife and I both received this exact e-mail within a few days of each other. We both contacted Apple support and got official word back that we should not respond to this e-mail. The agent who replied stated repeatedly that apple will "never" request your password, under any circumstances.

I still find it hard to be 100% sure that this is a scam, I figure the techs would know if it was one of their own e-mails. Hope that information helps anyone else getting this message.

Hey Guys,
I just got this email last night... but not only once. It came several times (about 5) to two different email addresses of mine. I opened one of the emails and then just errased them all without clicking any links. The only connection that I can see through reading a few of the responses on here is that some people mention the "Game Center" app on the iphone and I had just registered on it last night. I assume from this that it is something to do with that, however I will keep track and see if I get any more emails after future uses of the same application. If so, I will post on here.

I just got the same email today on an email address that is not associated with my account.

I did not click on any links from it. Instead, I went directly to Apple's website and from there clicked on Customer support, and linked to my account there. I am pretty sure that the email we all have received is bogus. I verified my actual email address via the Apple website and the verification email they send looks different than the one I received. So I would suggest to not click on anything in this email if it has been received at an address that is not one you associated with your Apple account.

i got the same email after i fiddled with my apple account. It tried to take me to:

https: //id.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/IDMSAccount.woa/wa/vetemail?language=US-EN&key=Y2VjYmYwN zZhY2ZiYzcyZWNjMzdlMTk5N2I1MTE3OWUwOTNlZWI1MDcxZmY3MGZhZjg1MTJlZmM3ZDk0MjBlMGYzN GViYzMzY2NjNmUxZTQyYjhjYWI3MDFkNTRlZDAxNmZjZjU0ODI2ZGRhY2MzMDY0OTk0Nzg0MTY5ZmEyO WE0NzFhMGY5MTkzN2M2OTA2ZTE5NTVlOWM1NjA5MmY3ODI2YWM4MWY1NmJiZTcwNGI3M2ZhNGVjNjgxO WYzOTg4ZDcyNDg5ZmZiMWRhYzA0OTY2ZDhlZGZmMjk3NDI0ZjdjZGEwNWU5YTgwODgyNWM4YzM2ZTU1O DJmNGNmMmM0Yg==

i click on it as the email was from: appleid @ apple.com

google chrome told me the site's security certificate is not trusted

the certificate is from entrust

is this legit or not?

edit: i refeshed the page and it went through, it said already verified.

Is id.apple.com the same as appleid.apple.com the same?

I got a simliar email but only after I had a dialog box pop up on my iPhone telling me that I had to add some security questions to my ID. The first time the dilog box poped up last night I ignored itbut this morning I went ahead and cicked through and added some questions. They wanted an email OTHER than my regular ID email for confirmtion . . .

I have now gone in and changed my password through iTunes. Not sure what the heck is going on here.
