Please verify the contact email address for your Apple ID.

Good morning

I just got an email titled "Please verify the contact email address for your Apple ID." I am quite sure it is a phishing email so I decided to post here so people smarter then I am could confirm my belief. The words "Verify Now" are the URL and contains the following link

I got a simliar email but only after I had a dialog box pop up on my iPhone telling me that I had to add some security questions to my ID. The first time the dilog box poped up last night I ignored itbut this morning I went ahead and cicked through and added some questions. They wanted an email OTHER than my regular ID email for confirmtion . . .

I have now gone in and changed my password through iTunes. Not sure what the heck is going on here.

I got one of these emails that looks exactly like a legit Apple ID verification, but it smelled bad. The email sender had a suspect address (admin@root-alajman.com). A normal verification came from appleid@id.apple.com.

The verification link sent me to this address:

http://cinnahsalumni.com/ads/css_/img/webscr/cmd_/e2tUc17DNO4HbXV3GTuugM17.0.83. 145.9.1.0/wo/8ada74920f9a279a7935568e10dc6909/

and I'm pretty sure that Apple isn't using a high school alumni web site to conduct its customer service (http://cinnahsalumni.com/ being the root host). It also asked for my credit card security code along with my ID and password, which Apple doesn't do.

The legit (I hope!) Apple ID reset is at https://id.apple.com/.

So look closely before you enter information.

I recieved one of these emails today. Everything looks correct, except that the name and mailing address on the account is for some guy named Bob in a different country.

BTW, I have never even owned an Apple product in my life, so it looks like this Bob guy is attempting to use my email address for his account.

Anyway, I did a password reset on Bob's account, and then reset his security question so he can't get in again, and then cancelled his appointment at the Apple store help desk. And google mapped his address (Nice house).

Now I'm going to see if he has any devices attached to the account, and remote wipe them.

Humm... I wonder what else I can do...??

Hi - What's going on Apple?

Ive rec'd a similar msg 4 times in the past 3 weeks:

Subject (all caps mine): HOW TO RESET YOUR APPLE ID PASSWORD

Dear ZZZ ZZZZZ,

To reset your Apple ID password, simply click the link below. That will take you to a web page where you can create a new password.

Please note that the link will expire three hours after this email was sent.

Reset your Apple ID password > ( I didn't click it but on hover I can see that this URL goes to an "iForgot" cgi.)

Questions? There are lots of answers on our Apple ID support page >

If you weren't trying to reset your password, don't worry — your account is still secure and no one has been given access to it. Most likely, someone just mistyped their email address while trying to reset their own password.

Thanks,
