"Show Package Contents" does not show up in my contextual menu

Will someone kindly explain when and where "Show Package Contents" is available. I'm trying to examine a Pages document for the images it contains. So, like the help sites explain, Control-click on the document and select "Show Package Contents." But when I Control-click on a Pages document, any Pages document, there is not option called "Show Package Contents" in the contextual menu.

What am I missing?

(BTW, if I click on Pages.app, I see it, but that doesn't help)

If you're using iWork 09, you need to tell the applications to save as packages in their preferences or unzip the single file; the default method zips the package while saving.

Okay, got it to work by setting the Preferences for new docs, but there is no unzip option for existing docs. So, the ones I were sent by a friend were obviously not saved as packages, but not seeing any way to get the contents.

All I'm trying to do is pull out the original image so I can manipulate it in Photoshop.
