MacBook Pro will not remember my wireless network after sleep

hello. i have the same problem as well. Anyone that know's how to fix this problem?

Do you know if your AirPort Extreme is broadcasting an SSID or not, and what type of wireless security are you using for your home network?

I have a similar problem since the last update for OS X 10.6.5.

Mw wireless network don't broadcast a SSID and I have no security setup on my router. I never had this problem before the new OS version.

Every time I reboot or I start my I-Mac, I need to re-enter the newwork name.

Apple guy or someone else can help ? it's very boring...is it easy to downgrade the OS ?

In network preferences, do you the option to remember networks that the computer has joined?

Yes. This option is checked since I have an I-mac (6 years ago, 2 different models).

Like I said, I never had this problem before the new OS version. I don't know if a new parameter is available, but I try to find something different with no success.

Hello, I'm having a similar issue with mine. I have a MacBook Pro Core 2 Duo at 2.16 ghz (old, I know), currently running the latest OS X 10.6.5. I use an Airport Extreme, broadcasting only at 5ghz N, I use MAC address filtering, WPA2 Personal, and I was hiding my SSID as well, but due to this problem, and trying to troubleshoot, I'm trying going without hiding it. I also have 3 harddrives connected to this router, and those are also password protected... not sure if that is relevant. If the laptop is put to sleep, and woken back up, it refuses to recognize my network's existence. I can see others in the area (I live in an apartment, so the traffic is a bit crowded, 10 networksish on a regular basis). I have no option but to reset the router using a paperclip in the back, and going through the manual setup, restoring my settings, yada yada, you all know the drill.

Anyone have any advice for me? This is really aggravating, as it will just hop on a neighbors unprotected network when it can't find mine, and I wouldn't care, except for my music is on my wireless harddrives, and iTunes/Serato freak way out when they can't find the music library upon wake up. Then I have to go through a whole extra mess to get them to not create a local library.

Please please please please help. I'm supposed to be recording a dj set tonight for radio, and can't because my wireless isn't cooperating, and I'm troubleshooting. 😟

Check to make sure your router is running the most up to date firmware available from its manufacturer. The fact that you need to reset the router indicates it's an issue with the router's firmware.

did you try power cycling the router AND the mac instead of resetting it?

Found an apple support page on this topic. The details are for 10.4.8 so I think some of the Newtwork preference pages look slightly different. But the process will likely work.

I've fixed my problem, I think

I've open network preferences, deleted all network listed. And now it seems that my iMac is able to find my wireless network (non braodcast SSID) again.

Hoping that will continu to work....but for now...Yahoooo.

I have been experiencing the same problem with two models of Airport Extreme (single band MB053LL/A and dual-band MC340LL/A), as well as an Airport Express, all with updated firmware. Pre-Mac OS 10.6 systems and non-Apple devices do not have this problem in my experience.

When I use Join Other Network, because my known network does not display on the list, Connection Failed displays. I have to click on it multiple (20-30 times) before it joins. Sometimes putting the computer to sleep again and waking helps, sometimes, I have to restart and rebood the PRAM. None of these solutions are consistent and it has become very frustrating to use Apple routers with my Apple.

At my office this issue does not occur with a Linksys router.

Below is my computer's configuration, but today I witnessed a brand new MacBookPro 15" that did not find the known network on an Airport Express and had to resort to manually Joining Other Network to log on:

The suggestion in this article does not work for the issue brought up in this post. I tried it, deleting all WPA2 Preferred Networks, then I restarted, even resetting PRAM, but when I wanted to join my network again, I could not without clicking Join multiple times and getting Connection Failed messages. Basically, nothing changed.

Any more suggestions folks - I am having same problem. My 17" Macbook Pro wont remember my WPA2 Personal network, but my Partners white macbook with exactly same OS will.
