capturing from Canon Vixia HV30

I borrowed a Canon Vixia HV30 to shoot some images with the HDV tape, but now I'm not able to capture it. The computer recognizes the camera, which I connected through the firewire port, but Final Cut tells me it's unable to locate the external device.

Which setup should I choose to be able to capture the images? And, when I get the right setup, should I "log and transfer" or should I "log and capture"?
