Oct 13, 2015 10:13 AM in response to Nflatteby LCCarroll,My phone doesn't seem to have the option to turn on/off email in mail, contacts, calendars. Anyone got suggestions? I've had 1-2 unreads showing up on the front screen ever since I updated my operating system. Grrrr.
And I've tried setting everything as read, and then unread. They disappear for a few moments and then come back.

Oct 16, 2015 10:26 AM in response to Phil Berquistby James Braley,I am working on this problem with a friend and his iPhone. He deleted the email account, readded it. Still one mystery unread email. We tried marking all unread, then marking all read, still one unread email. Tried force quitting. Can't upgrade, already at current iOS.

Oct 19, 2015 5:44 PM in response to glindarayeby LCCarroll,When I select Mail, Contacts, Calendars, it gives me the option of "Hotmail" only. If I select that it just lists the email account and gives no option to turn it off. If there's something I'm missing please point it out to me.

Oct 20, 2015 4:32 AM in response to jsiddoby PominParadise,Thanks so much. When I read your suggestion it seemed too easy. I was up to 38 unread phantom emails and the second I did as you said and opened the test email from my account to myself - they were all gone! Brilliant. Thanks so much

Oct 26, 2015 12:53 PM in response to amyfromlivingstonby LCCarroll,Well, since I couldn't turn on/off email, I killed my email account and then reestablished it. No more phantom emails I'm happy to say, tho it did take a while for the phone to delete all the emails that were on it.

Oct 26, 2015 4:12 PM in response to Mika Inkinenby Spiffy26,I have an iPhone 6 plus. I have the same problem. This problem keeps occurring even after the 9.1 update The turning off email corrects the problem but I have to keep repeating this step every other day. I have three email accounts on this phone and the only one that gets the phantom emails is an Exchange account with my company's Outlook 2013.
