iPhoto '11 — View Keywords doesn't work, they're missing!

Type Command+K to bring up the Keyword pane to add or assign keywords. However, the keywords have been moved to the Info pane along with Faces and Places info and are no longer beneath the thumbnails.

I agree. I want the keywords under the thumbnails also. Send feedback as Terence suggested.

As with many of Apple's OS changes, there are ways in Terminal to switch something on and off, and I hope and assume that with this one we can too.

Anyone out there that can fond this out for us???

Please, I hate the move of keywords. It makes my work so much harder.

Unfortunately, when you use this option, you are given no version selection for iPhoto 11.

These things often lag a little. Just put re: iPhoto 11 in the message box.

I think its broken myself. If they decided to only show the keywords in the info pane then why is the keyword menu option still checked when I close the info pane ? Shouldn't it become unchecked if I am no longer able to see my keywords ? Somethings not right and I think they were meant to be shown under the photos like previous versions. Also when viewing the info pane if you unselect the keyword option under the menu the keywords disappear from the info pane. However, if you deselect the ratings, the rating disappear from under the photos, but not from the info pane. Either the Apple programmers are very inconsistent or something is broke.

The View ➙ Keyword option is checked when you close the Info window because it pertains to that window only. With the window open uncheck Keywords and it will disappear from the window.

I'm guessing they did that because with photos with many keywords associated with it they would overflow the thumbnail area and not look neat and tidy. 😉

I respectfully disagree. However. if that is really how they meant for it to work, then the programmers should have moved the keyword option to another area. Its not consistent at all. At least make it so when you uncheck ratings and titles they also disappear from the info pane.

I've not used or tried Aperture but some think Apple's trying to give iPhoto a similar GUI. I don't like the external editing feature. They've messed with it and again, it might be a little like Aperture. Will have to check on that.

OT from your description, that's very like Aperture. (Still waiting in the wilds of the West of Ireland for my copy of 11)

I haven't tried Aperture since V1 demo but a lot of iPhoto 11's GUI reminds me of it.

This is a major annoyance.
I co-shoot JPEG's and RAW's, I need the info below the image so I am not looking back & forth all the time to the side panel to check which is which.
