I was a little disappointed to find you can't order calendars in iPhoto '11. A support article says they are coming "very soon".

    It's a brand new product.
    Give it a few weeks.

I hope by Christmas because I like to make calendars for my family around the holidays.

I AM ALSO SO SO DISAPPOINTED, NO CALENDARS OPTION. I HOPE THEY PUT THE OPTION IN IPHOTO, OTHERWISE HAS TO GO BACK TO IPHOTO 09.

Please don't type in vlock capitals. It looks like you're rudely shouting at other users, and it's harder to read. Search the forum. Apple have mentioned that the calendars will be returned "very soon".

This was really surprising to me, especially because it's not like iPhoto '11 was written from scratch. Why take away a feature, especially at the time of year when people start to think about creating calendars and giving them as gifts? Especially because there's no way to go back to iPhoto '09. We literally lost access to our 2011 calendar that we were working on, including the photos that we had selected for that calendar from among our 22,000+ photos.

Apple's web site explanation is not sufficient, as "soon" could mean a day, a week, a month, or a year depending on your perspective.

I should learn a lesson about buying an upgrade based on excitement about new features, knowing that Apple/Steve doesn't tell you what features it removed.

This was very disappointing to me, because I was in the process of making calendars as Christmas gifts. One was especially for my brother-in-law serving in Afghanistan right now. We were going to send him a little bit of home by way of a calendar. Now I don't know if I'll be able to make one, have it printed and shipped in time.

I was about to complete a calender that i had spent hours preparing when i decided to upgrade to ilife11.
I am Usually very impressed with apple but this is a large disappointment and should have been mentioned!

No it doesn't at all. This is so old hat now and most unhelpful. If you read the content of the post there is no hint of shouting is there? No. People used to say this about block caps in the 80's and 90's.
In answer to the original concern, it looks like there will be a Calendars option coming in the future. Let's hope Apple regain their senses soon too, and restore full screen mode for single photos, and the ability to send a photo via email - just that- without also sending a cheesey pile of marketing dross with it. There's a good boy Steve eh?

What is the use of a READ ME file in the installation package if it does not warn us of such a loss of functionality (even if not permanent) ?

I guess at this time of the year quite a number of us are in the middle of a calendar construction. Having a chance to finish before upgrade would have been appreciated.

I upgraded to iLife '11 right away specifically because I wanted to use some of the new features to help me create my annual calendar. Even though I know they never mentioned calendar features in the presentations/documentation I thought that even if the calendars weren't improved in the upgrade, the other new features would be nice enough. The thought that they'd remove the calendars entirely never crossed my mind. Rather than rant about the nature of their decision, I'll just say that unless they enable calendar functionality within the next two weeks I'll be forced to use a different service for my purposes.

I'm glad I held off 'upgrading' to iPhoto 11 - Calendars - are about the only reason I use iPhoto. If Aperture created cards and calendars - I wouldn't even use iPhoto anymore
I agree about the poor timing - if the calendar function is not out in the next 45 days or so - it too late for many.

I completely agree. I read the "read=me" file and there was no mention that they dropped this feature - just before the Christmas season. Very annoying and disappointing.
