Endles "Updating Aperture Videos Event"... can't use iMovie now..

Same here. Aperture 3.1 itself works fine. iMovie '11 hangs with Updating Aperture Videos Event even though I don't have any videos in Aperture. All Apple software fully updated. An obvious bug that Apple will have to fix ASAP.

I cant even see my aperture library in imovie 11, how do I add it??

Same here ! Deleted my Aperture Plugins. Still spinning the ball after I start iMovie !

is it some kind of 'additional feature' that ask people to use iphoto 11 rather than Aperture...

I just installed the iLife '11 aps and found I have the same problem.

My temporary work-around (until Apple finds a fix) is to select a small Aperture library I have with no video files in it. iMovie '11 then is happy and runs fine.

I too am having this issue. I have a 30 GB Aperture Library. No plugins. I let the "import" run for 8 hours. The computer eventually went to sleep as there is no activity. I have the library on an external HDD w/ an activity light. It does not flash during the "import". I would try to put it on the internal drive but its only a 64GB SSD that is almost full.

I 'll keep an eye on this forum and update regularly

SOLUTION FOR ME.

MAKE A BACKUP OF YOUR APERTURE DATABASE BEFORE !

1. right-click on your aperture library. Open the package to view files.
2. I deleted iMovie-Thumbnails and iLifeShared
3. I started Imovie and it is now working normaly.

I had to also delete IlifeShared, I first started to delete only imovie-thumbnail but it was not working.

After, I tried to delete iLifeShare, since it contain an empty file called "ApertureDatabaseTimestamp"

After that, my imovie recontruct thumbnail and every thing is now working as before.

I did not repair my database, not yet.

It is bad to see that apple a billion of $ in their bank account and produce such a buggy software.

I just installed iLife 11 today. Updated Aperture and Prokit yesterday, I created a new aperture library and iMovie started straight away, however how do i get the movies from my real Aperture Library into iMovie, I have lots and don't want to start rearranging everything?

Any help would be much appreciated!!!
