New Lion App Store : Will it take Power Game Factory games?

With the announcement of the new Macos App store in Lion will it take games created from third party software such as 'Power Game Factory'? If so this could be a huge revival of the gaming industry on the mac! What are the requirements for Apps submitted to the new App store?

First of all, Lion will not arrive until Summer 2011. The Mac App Store will be here "within 90 days". It has nothing to do with Lion.

As long as your application conforms to the Mac App Store requirements, it should be fine.

I downloaded Power Game Factory and built the demo, it looks like games produced form this tools would qualify on a technical level. Each game would still have to be approved by Apple on both technical and non-technical terms.

Read them for yourself: http://developer.apple.com/devcenter/mac/documents/submitting.html

So I just heard on TWIT that apps needs to be packaged in Xcode and No Third Party installers.

Don't trust what you see on the internet. There is way too much misinformation there.

Since the apps are already generated from PGF I'm presuming this won't work with the App Store?

Not at all. You can package applications built with other tools. As long as they conform to the Mac App Store guidlines, one .app is the same as another. There is a section in the Mac App Store Guide that describes how to do that.

So an app can be created by something else than XCode and Apple won't freak out? Does it have to be %100 cocoa, I think PGF is carbon based. My fear is that I pay $99 and find out that unless I code in XCode Apple won't take the app.

If I had any ear to Steve Job's ears I would either buy PGF and make it an Apple standard for iLife or create their own version of a program that can make games. There is a huge opportunity for 2D shooters here!
